Hi.
I would like to access my database outside of my company. I read many
documents but they are all pertaining to accessing the database via
ASP or some form of web application. Is there no single windows or
linux application tht runs natively to access a remote SQL data base?
Any advise is appreciated. Thanks!!

Hi,
I am a newbie at all this, but here's what I want to do: We have a
very large database sitting on a SQL server that is on a remote
computer. I can access it through remote desktop and browse the
Enterprise Manager and the DB.
What I am trying to do is create a Visual Studio .Net program that
accesses the DB. Can I use a data adapter to connect to the DB? the
SQL server is on the local C drive of the remote computer so it is not

Hello-
I have a Sql Server 2000 database offsite that I would like to back up
to a local machine. I am using Enterprise Manager on a local machine to
administer the remote db.
Whats the best way to schedule backups so the remote db is backed up to
the local machine?
Can this be done in Enterprise Manager?
Would you recommend any 3rd party software?

Sorry if this is a bit off topic, but I can't seem to find a 'remote
control' newsgroup on my news server. And anyway I know Tony has some
experience of this.
The app is split FE/BE. I'd like remote access to at least the server,
hopefully the whole network. And to be able to upload/download, to install
new versions of the FE to the server (which then get sent up to the clients
at runtime).
What experience does anybody have of this....

Is there a way to query a remote xml file periodically by not using web
services? For Windows and Unix platforms. Is there a cheap software product
that I can install on each client and my Windows 2000 server and have
'secure' network access? I would love to use VS.NET to access both windows
and Unix/Linux xml files.

Hi
We have an internal ms access database which we need to synchronise with our
website with sql server 2005 backend which is hosted on a public host. My
question is; is there a way to keep the two databases synchronised using the
technologies built in sql server 2005 and/or access? We also have the
possibility of an in-house sql server 2000. Can this be used in anyway to
help, perhaps by moving data from in house access to in house sql...

I have a problem (like most others posting issues on this forum :) )
I have a remote server running Windows XP SP2, with both SQL Server
2005 Express with Advanced Features and SQL 2000 installed. I can
remotely connect to the SQL Server 2000 instance using Query Analyser
or Enterprise Manager. I can also remotely connect to the SQLEXPRESS
using Management Studio Express Edition.
I am writing an ASP.NET 2.0 with VS2005 application...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
