How to make the first record shown selected in datagridview

Bob
Loading data in a datagridview control in Vs2005, Vb.Net. If data is loaded
in control I need first record shown to be automatically the selected
record. By defaukt it is not considered selected, user has to click in the
selection box on left of grid to have a record selected.
How can I automatically get first shown record to be selected?

Any help appreciated.

Bob

I'm using a ComboBox to display objects of a class I've defined, say CQQ. Works great except somehow I occasionally set an Item to a String object instead of an object of type CQQ. It looks like Text replaces an item or something like that. This results in a runtime error at which time I learn that the item that should be CQQ is a String.

I am in the process of developing new front end program for SQL database to replace MS Access front end. I have been unable to convert the following lines of VBA to C# to find a record in the workorder dataset from a seperate form based on query presented in datagridview. I open the workorder form, then click on search form, then double click the line in datagridview to focus back on workorder to the selected record by workorderID. If...

Hello, Using VB 2005.net. I have a bound datagridview and a delete button control (or when the user pressed the 'Delete' key) I can successfully delete the selected record from the table and it is removed from the dgv. But then I want to select the previous row in the dgv and select it so on 'Select Index Changed' event I can populate text boxes referring to the selected row. The user may have selected the 5th row in the dgv then...

This seems to be something so simple that none of the hundred-odd tutorials and forum threads that I have looked at (:-)) apparently thinks it's a problem. In a nutshell, I have two DataGridViews. Each has a BindingSource (and a BindingNavigator). The first view populates successfully based upon a Linq to SQL query in the Form Load (that is, the query is assigned to the DataSource of that view's BindingSource, and the BindingSource is...

When you retrieve records to diplay in a DataGridView control the first record has the background highlighted even though no row is yet selected. Does anyone know a way to suppress this first record highlighting after pulling the records into the grid?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
