Hi,
Currently we're a building a metadatadriven datawarehouse in SQL
Server 2000. We're investigating the possibility of the updating
tables with enormeous number of updates and insert and the use of
checkpoints (for simple recovery and Backup Log for full recovery).
On several website people speak about full transaction log and the
pace of growing can't keep up with the update. Therefore we want to
create a script which flushes the...

Hi all,
I've got two subforms on an unbound form, frmMain, frmSubOne, frmSubTwo.
Ive got a control on frmSubTwo, cboList, a list box, which draws its source
from the table underlying frmSubOne.
I want this list to be kept automatically up to date, for selection, so
after updating frmSubOne, the new records will be visible in the cboList box
when selected.

Hi, I'm not a programmer but would appreciate some help with the following.
I've been looking at various sites but cannot find the information I
require.
I have a table of strata plans and if we no longer manage the plan the date
this occurs gets entered into a field. What I would like to happen is for
all the fields in that record to change their forecolor to red as soon as
the DateLost field is no longer null.
I also have several...

Hi,
I've been having this problem for some time with Web Forms:
I have a web app that sends data to a service when the user presses a
button. Based on the data, the server will send several replies. Since
there is no way for a service to post to a client, I am using a thread
on the client that polls the server for updates.
(Feel free to recommend changes to that as well)

Hello,
I have created an ASP.NET 2.0 application that utilized a Gridview Control
to display and update/delete data.
The problem I am having is that the gridview control is displaying the data
correctly but it is not updating or deleting the rows. What I did was, in
design view, added a gridview control and added an sqldatasource control. I
configured the data source to update and delete. In the gridview tasks I
selected enable...

Hi everyone,
I have a strongly typed dataset, with my main form having a datagridview that is binded to an access database. The main form has three buttons one to create a new entry in the database one to edit an entry in the database and one to close an entry in the database. All three buttons work in the similar way, such that the entry you select in the datagridview is the entry you want to close or edit. When I click on the open or edit...

I'm guessing this is a laughably obvious answer to many here, but it's
not to me (and I don't have a server or any knowledge of PHP to be able
to try it). It's not strictly a PHP question, but something that PHP
guys would know the answer to. I can't think of a more appropriate forum
to try. I've heard the ASP and JSP guys aren't as friendly ;-)
Let's say we have a HTML page from domain example.com, and that HTML
page makes a request to...

Hi There
I'm not sure what exactly is going wrong here. I'm writing an application that retreives a table from a database (tbl_internalfaults) and updates it. (Actually, just the status column will need updating with 'CLOSED' where necessary.)
I have been trying to use the OLEDB command builder to build the statement to update the database however it is returning an error whenever I try to do this.
I already have a dataset full of data, 1...

Can someone explain why a field on the many side of a one-to-many relationship, with referential integrity enforced, is not automatically updating?
I have 5 tables in my database with the following relationships:
Transactions (1-Many) Transaction Details (1-Many) Deliveries
Order Codes (1-Many) Transaction Details
Order Codes (1-Many) Inventory (1-Many) Deliveries
Order Codes (1-Many) Deliveries
All relationships are set to enforce...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
