Accessing the controls on a Child form from the MDI parent

Hi all,

Is there a way for the MDI parent to reference controls on the active MDI
child form?

What I actually want to achieve is to know what control on the MDI child
currently has focus. Is there also a way to have an event on the MDI parent
that fires everytime the focus on a child form changes?

regards,

Mac

Hi there, In my Mdi application, I have placed a set of controls on the parent form to call child forms. The problem is that the controls hide the child forms. I have used SendToBack when Im calling the child form, that works fine. The problem arrises when I want to show those controls again when I close the child form. Im sure BringToFront will work but im not sure how to do this from the child form.

The problem that I am now having, involves refreshing controls. I have allot of text boxes, several combo boxes and grids. These controls are showing live data from an Oracle database. I have dates in a combo box in my tool bar that are associated with the particular report that the user is opening. When the user picks a different date all of the data in the controls should reload. I originally built an SDI application but needed my tool bar to...

I'm using data to rename some web controls on a form that uses a repeater contol and so it can have mulitple instances of the same control set. The controls get renamed (thanks to Steven Cheng's help) in a click event of the button that is pushed to enter data. Each time the button is clicked it sends the ID entered by the user to query the database and return information. The renamed controls then include the ID in the name of the...

Is there a way to access controls (and their properties) in a user control? The Web Form Designer marks controls as 'Protected' which makes them inaccessable from the host form. If I mark them as Public, I can access them, but the next time the controls are manipulated in the design mode, they are converted back to Protected. Is there an obvious/easy way around this? Thanks.

I want to create session objects for all web controls in a page. Right now, I am doing it in a dumb way like this (for example): Session("Session1") = ctrl1.Text Session("Session2") = ctrl2.Text Session("Session3") = ctrl3.Text Session("Session4") = ctrl4.SelectedValue Session("Session5") = ctrl5.Text Session("Session6") = ctrl6.Text

Let's say I have an MDI parent form with a textbox. If I create an MDI child form and, at runtime, move the MDI child window over the textbox on the MDI parent, the textbox appears in front of the MDI child window. How can I make the MDI child window appear in front of any controls that may be on the MDI parent? thanks, John

I have a page with some form elements that are dynamically generated. They are inserted into the dom by first cloning a node, changing the values like name, and then inserted with insertBefore(). When a field gets added, a link that opens a popup window is next to it. The popup is opened and has the name of the parent element it should change in it. The user can use the popup to get a list of results. In the results I would like them...

Background: I have a windows form called 'frmMain'. On this form, I have a LABEL control called 'lblWorkStatus', and it's property is set to PUBLIC. On another form, I have a process that checks on the status of a project that our company is working on. Programmatically, if the status changes, I want to relay that information to the 'lblWorkStatus' control on the main form. My code looks like this:

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
