I have an app that users can search through a support knowledge base.
If a user enters criteria that would cause the app to freeze while it
is trying to gather the data, I would like to program a Cancel Query
button to either close the command object or close the connection
object. This would give the user the ability to cancel the execution
and refine the search criteria.
I am programming this app using 2005 Beta 2 in VB.net.
Any ideas?

i think, if you dont use threads, thats imposible, because the program freeze
all until its get a response. may be putting a timeout... or in the database
always put a select top x, this way always you have the query controlled...

Hi List,
I'm running a query on a not-so-small db. Mostly this query runs fast enough, but every once in a while the query takes a long time to complete in wich case the users start banging away on the keyboard :-).
What we would like to do is cancel the query after a certain time-out (e.g.30 sec.)
Is there some way to send a command to the postgres sever to stop running the query?
We're using Postgres 7.3.4 and the latest ODBC...

I am building a database to track the maintenance records on a fleet
of cars. I need to run a report on that will display data based on
whether a box is checked or not (i.e. all cars that have the oil
change box checked, or a report that shows all cars and lists all the
