hide control based on SQLS2K column level permission

Is it possible to detect the SQLS2K column level permission for the
logged in user.

I want to be able to hide a control or Button based on user permission
to edit that column.

Can anyone direct me to example code for this?

Thank you,
Doug

Please clarify your reply. "Just to prevent everytime opening as
unanswered."

What do you mean by this?

dbuchan,
Please clarify your reply. "Just to prevent everytime opening as

Not opened messages are (by instance by me) opened again and again, while
giving answers in double post is not very informative for people who want to
search in this newsgroup.

Mostly is double posting just a result from people who don't see there other
message direct show up.

That is all.

if you are talking about my post titled "determine SQLS2K table level
permission for a user" - that is a different question.

If your are talking about my post titled "hide control based on column
level permission" - - -

I followed these suggestion given by many news groups:
· "Do your research before posting" - I did, and found nothing.
· "If you don't get any replies after a couple of days then try
posting again and rephrase your question or post to another related
group" -

I got no replys so after a couple of days so I wrote a new post titled
differently and phrased differently.

As it stands I still don't have any answers to either;
"hide control based on SQLS2K column level permission"
or
"hide control based on column level permission"
giving answers in double post is not very informative for people who
want to search in this newsgroup

that is true, but also
not getting answers is not very informative either

I don't really know what to do next. maybe wait a week this time and
post again? What do you suggest.

Dough,

This are your messages.
http://groups-beta.google.com/groups...an&qt_s=Search

I don't have the answer on your question.
However it is forever the best to keep a question in one message.
Than people can discuss about wrong answers or whatever.

For me are the two messages each above each other in this newsgroup are
almost the same. If there is a difference than maybe I don't understand you,
however I assume that I am than not the only one. (While two open messages
avoid as well often answers).

I have seen a kind of simular question as you from Armin Zingler in the
Adonet newsgroup. While he is an all time regular from this newsgroup and
the thirth time poster (most answers). Did he not get any answer on it.

His decission was to check what ADODB could mean for it. Maybe can a special
newsgroup for ADODB help you (I don't know it it exist and than what is the
best).

Hi, I am trying to find the minimum security settings to allow a windows control embedded in IE have full trust. If I give the entire Intranet zone full trust, this works. However, this is very broad and gives the entire zone high privleges. I tried giving just the assembly full trust (using the full URL for the DLL), but this doesn't seem to work.

I have a .Net 1.1 application which is downloaded into an aspx page. It is a dll which inherits from System.Windows.Forms.UserControl. It works fine on a PC with only the 1.1 Framework. However, the control will not load on a PC with the 2.0 Framework installed. I know that IE will use the newest framework so I assume it is a security issue. At the assembly level I apply the following attributes;

Hello, Does anyone have an idea on how I can filter the data in the gridview control that was returned by an sql query? I have a gridview that works fine when I populate it with data. Now I want to look at that data and filter it based on what is in it. I know that this could have been done with data sets and data views in asp.net 1.1 but how is this done now in asp.net 2.0?

I'm using the DataList and GridView controls, and I am trying to wrap my head around the problem of conditionally showing or hiding cells/cell content based on the presence or absence of DB data. I am finding this sort of problem by far the most annoying part about working with ASP.NET controls. What I want is to know how to do three things: - conditionally show or hide an ImageField +column+ based on whether or not an the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
