What is the best way to build a where clause and where to build it

I have a form wich on the first tab I have two list boxes one populated
with the available fields to put in where statement and when they are
duoble clicked they go into the second list box. up to nine can be
selected.

On tab two I show the fields selected, followed by a combo box where
they can select the operator, then a box for the paramter.

Now somehow I need to get this data to create a dataset for a crystal
report. Should I build the SQL statement and send it thru as
commandtext and fill a dataset, or should I pass the field, operator
and parameter to a stored procedure and bind the Crystal report to the
store procedure. Does anyone have an example?

Thanks,
Phillip Putzback

Hi There I am creating a search page and need help writing the code to build the sql string. I have 3 fields on the main page which a user can choose to enter search terms in any of the 3 fields. My question is how do I write the logic so it only includes the fields in the search criteria where the user has entered anything.

After some thought on what I need in a Python ORM (multiple primary keys, complex joins, case statements etc.), and after having built these libraries for other un-named languages, I decided to start at the bottom. What seems to plague many ORM systems is the syntactic confusion and string-manipulation required to build the SQL Statements. If you want to do a Left Outer Join, support nested functions, and a nested conditional clause, you'd...

I am constantly getting reports in my task list like these: * 'someObjectName" is not a member of 'someOtherObjectName' * Handles clause requires a WithEvents variable. * Name 'someName' is not declared These errors are totally erroneous. If I go into the class and cut the offending code and repaste it in the same spot the errors temporarily go away. Also, more effective is to delete the files in project/bin and rebuild. Both fixes...

Hello, I am developing ASP.NET 1.1 application against SQL Server 2000 db, where users have ability to construct their own select criteria (for a where clause). I already developed a user control where user can select field name, operator (equals, like, begins with, etc) and value of the search criteria. This control can already build where clause part. Now I am at the point, where I need to execute SQL query, but I would really like to...

Hi All, I need to select data from a database table containing huge amount of data. Now I am storing data using one primary key and I am just using simple select statement, and this process gives me the output but it is taking long to execute the query. As much I had heared I want to use some indexing or cluster indexing which might help me but I am not so familiar with these things. So if any one having some solutions to execute the...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
