Kuups,

That depends on the control.
In a textbox it is very easy while it is in most controls impossible and in
the Richtextbox a consequent question in this newsgroup.

Therefore I think that you have to tell at least where to highlight,

Commonly done, eg. you enter a word in a search engine and when a hit-page comes up the search word(s) are highlighted. I'm doing a fulltext search that works well but I've tried a few "packaged scripts" and haven't got one to work yet. I'm looking for straightforward understandable way to do this on my MYSQL/PHP pages. Thanks, Lee

Hi everyone, This one is better experienced than explained, so I'm including a code sample below. Please and save (as an html file) and view with NN or Firefox (or maybe even Mozilla), and then view. When loaded: (1.) Place the mouse over "Top Menu" item. (The menu opens) (2.) Move to any of the sub-menu items. (3.) Click on the left or right (but NOT on the text) of the current

I'm relatively new to regular expressions and was looking for some help on a problem that I need to solve. Basically, given an HTML string, I need to highlight certain words within the text of the string. I had it working somewhat, but ran into problems if one of the highlighted words could also be part of an HTML tag (such as 'Table' or 'Border'). What I need is the regex to find the word, but ignore any words that fall between an HTML...

I have created an ASP.NET page that allows the user to page through a result set. I need to expand on this. On that same page I a filed where the user can type in a search string. When they click a button ALL the results will be returned and the closest match to the search string will be highlighted. The approach I am taking to page the data is to put the keys/indexes into an array then create another data reader based on those results to...

When you highlight a selection of text represented in an object on a form, somewhere in the Framework or alternatively in the Windows API there exists an array of variables that either contain as a string the portion of text before the highlight, in the highlight and after the highlight, or as an integer or long the beginning and length of the highlighted string or other related data. The question is where? TIA

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
