I am using a Win XP Home system and I have had a problem ever since I first bought it. Whenever I am on the net and come on to a web site that has a Jaava enabled website, my system slows down terribly. It will initially freeze for a few seconds and then when I am atempting to navigate the website, it takes forever. Is there something I can do to stop this from happening? thanks John T McD.

Hello dear People! For the very first time I have attempted to have BOTH Access 2000 AND Access 2002 installed on the same computer. I started with Access 2002 (XP). After I was sure the A2002 was running well, I installed Access 2000 from my original Office 2K Pro Microsoft disks with the only difference being that I told it to install on a different hard disk (D instead of C). It now appears that the A2k version is the DEFAULT...

My personal K&R (3rd edition) wish list: 1. That a 3rd edition is actually published! 2. Make any and all corrections from earlier editions. 3. Update to comply with the c99 Standard. 4. A reference to other C books to aid the programmer. 5. A listing of C related web sites. 6. For ease of use, an appendix of tables used in the text. 7. Make an appendix with the full ascii table. 8. Make an appendix that includes a C Programming FAQ.

in March, i posted a essay “What is Expressiveness in a Computer Language”, archived at: http://xahlee.org/perl-python/what_is_expresiveness.html I was informed then that there is a academic paper written on this subject. On the Expressive Power of Programming Languages, by Matthias Felleisen, 1990. http://www.ccs.neu.edu/home/cobbe/pl-seminar-jr/notes/2003-sep-26/expressive-slides.pdf

I'm just learning C#. I'm writing a program (using Visual C# 2005 on WinXP) to combine several files into one (HKSplit is a popular freeware program that does this, but it requires all input and output to be within one directory, and I want to be able to combine files from different directories into another directory of my choice). My program seems to work fine, but I'm wondering about this loop: for (int i = 0; i < numFiles; i++)

Hi, I am new to this newsgroup and need help in the following questions. 1. I am workin' on a GUI application. Does C# provides Layout Managers the way Java does to design GUI? I know that it can be done using the designer but I intentionally don't want to use that. The one reason is that you cannot change the code generated by the designer. The other could be that you have more free hand and control to design your GUI. 2....

I have access, for testing at my client's site, a Win2000 computer running A2003 retail. He recently upgraded all of his other machines to DualCore Pentiums with 2 gig ram and run A2003 runtime. I believe all current SPs for Windows and Office are installed on the fast machines. I have 1 process/subroutine that has worked for a couple of years without a problem. It works fine on the testing (slow) machine. The process checks a folder...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
