Something eating my Arrow keys. No WM_KEYDOWN messages for them

I do not get WM_KEYDOWN messages for arrow keys presses in my overridden
WndProc for a picturebox control.

Something must be eating them - anyone familiar with what's going on?

Thanks

Hi, I am stuck... I've got a popup window that displays a list in table format with links on the bottom to navigate the list <prev> 1 2 3 ... <next> When I demo'd to the users... they immediately asked if they could use the arrow keys and enter key to navigate the list. I think there must be a way to do this, but I can't figure it out.

Because of the requirements on a high-speed data entry form, I need to reliably trap certain keys (specifically the "/", "*", "-", and "+") keys on the 10-key pad and treat them as "Function keys". This MOSTLY works, however I am finding that not with all workstations. Does anyone know what kind of nuance might be involved here and how to avoid it? (I know it can be done because the CICS emulators on these same workstations are able to...

I have two situations: 1) a form with a picturebox on it This picturebox does NOT gets WM_KEYDOWN messages if the key is an arrow key. Works OK if Num Lock is on so those keys are numerals. 1)A form with a textbox on it This textbox gets those WM_KEYDOWN messages. Maybe the fact that its a picturebox is not significant. Maybe something

How can you detect when an arrow key gets pressed? Doesn't seem to trigger a KeyPress or KeyDown event. Thanks. Jerry

I have combobox column in DataGridView. Up and down error keys should be used to navigate previous and next row in grid. For this I override them in ProcessCmdKey() event. When combobox dropdown menu is open arrow arrow keys should move to previous and next item in dropdown menu instead of moving betveen rows. How to check that combobox dropdown menu is open in ProcessCmdKey() ?

I'll kick myself when you tell me, but ... I have a user control on a form, and I want the user control to see the arrow keys when I press them. If I press just about any other key the control's KeyDown event is fired, but not when I press a direction key. I want to see them in the KeyDown event so that I can respond as soon as the key is depressed, and I want to detect when the key is held down so that I can perform an action...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
