Capturing text from a window

Can anyone tell me if there is an easy way to capture the text from a window
that is running in an external application?

Best wishes

P/invoke on 'SendMessage' + 'WM_GETTEXT' will work for Windows' standard
controls if you have the control's handle. You can use
'FindWindow'/'FindWindowEx'/... to get a control's handle.

Hello, everyone, I'd like to write a Python program that could capture the contents of another Windows program and analyze the resultant bitmap. First, I have no idea how to capture another window. Second, I'm not even certain if this graphical problem is a Python issue or a Windows issue. Can anyone offer me some guidance on this? Thanks,

This is long. Bear with me, as I will really go through all the convoluted stuff that shows there is a problem with streams (at least when used to redirect stdout). The basic idea is that my application (VB.NET) will start a process, redirect its stdout and capture that process' output, displaying it in a window. I've written a component for this, and a test application for the component. It allows me to specify a command to execute,...

I'm using my browser (Mozilla/5.0 Linux i686 Gecko/20031007 Firebird/0.7) to do some client-side image processing. I want to capture the sequence of coordinates a user clicks on in xxx.jpg in the following html <a href="#"><IMG SRC="xxx.jpg" ISMAP></a> and save these to a file for later handling. The coordinates appear on the bottom left of the window as I move the mouse, so I know they're being passed around somehow, but I haven't...

I want to be able to capture the user pressing Ctrl+S. I know that the IE browser has a key binding for Ctrl+S but is there any way that I can be notified of this key press anyway. I have found tons of examples of capturing keys in IE but *none* of them work for capturing Ctrl+S, Ctrl+F, Ctrl+P,etc or any key combination that has a binding in IE. Does anyone know how to do this?

1. Is there an event to capture scrolling using mouse wheel in Netscape 6.x? 2. When arrow keys are used to scroll a page in Netscape 6.x, the scrolling offsets obtained using 'window.pageXOffset' and 'window.pageYOffset' are not correct. Is there any other way to get the correct scrolling offsets?

Hello, I have been playing with various Googled solutions for capturing the <Enter> key to suppress form submission. My first question is whether anyone has a script that works in all common browsers? The script bellow is IE only. It fails FF 1.0 and NN 7. Also, if I can trap the keypress I would like to use it to tab to the next tabindex.

Hi, Can anyone suggest working sample of capturing a window's picture? I tried a few, but couldn't get the image. I don't know why those functions are not getting the image. Note: I want the snapshot of the window even when it's not visible. And, I work in "C#". An example: http://www.developerfusion.co.uk/show/4630/

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
