Tutorial Book Suggestions for VB.net - need a GOOD one..

Hello..
I am an intermediate level VB6 user and am beginning a brand new
application for which I want to use VB.net. Therefore, I am shopping
for the best possible 'learning' book on the subject. The book needs to
jump right into the good stuff. No - 3 chapters on using the IDE, etc.
I am comfortable with object oriented programming using C++, so any
books that concentrate in that area is OK, too..

Anyway, your suggestions are welcome..
Thanks..

I have read many of the topics on learning C++ or Java first. It seems like everyone says something different. I would like to know if I should learn C++ or Java. First a little about myself. I know PHP, BASIC, and of course HTML. I'll be 15 years old in September. I am interested in programming GUI applications. I am also interested in programming games. I know that I should learn C++ to program games, but would learning Java make the...

So, I got the itch to write something more... I apologize for not doing more on the attempted "Correct C++ Tutorial" earlier, but there were reasons. This is an UNFINISHED and RAW document, and at the end there is even pure mindstorming text left in, but already I think it can be very useful. <url: http://home.no.net/dubjai/win32cpptut/special/pointers/preview/pointers_01__alpha.doc.pdf>.

Hello group, After quite a long time of consideration, I'v finally decided to switch from Java to C. Given the condition that almost without any knowledge on C and 3 years expereince on java, , Which tutorial or book might be good for me to start with? It would be the best if it's (freely) available on the net. I'd prefer standard C, anyway some Gnu extensions are just fine. I'd appreciate any of your recommendation of book/tutorials or...

While the official Python Tutorial has served its purpose well, keeping it up to date is hardly anyones top priority, and there are others who passionately create really good Python tutorials on the web. I think 'A Byte of Python' by Swaroop C H is a good beginners tutorial, and 'Dive Into Python' by Mark Pilgrim is a good tutorial for more experienced programmers.

I'd like to learn JavaScript while sitting in my easy chair with my laptop on my lap. Option 1: Buy a wireless router so I can access the plethora of online- only tutorials from anywhere in the house. Option 2: Buy a book and try to figure out how to read a book with one hand while using the laptop with the other. Option 3: Find a good downloadable tutorial (either PDF or a bundle of

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
