VB.net and gaming

--
hello

(I asked this earlier out of curiosity but i wasnt specific enough and the
thread is 3 pages away)

Can you do decent games in VB.net compared to C++ .
In VB.net I believe you can integrate C++ as well because of the .NET
architecture

What sort of games you ask well what about Baldurs Gate RPG, Quake, Age of
Empire, 3D games. Does VB.net lack graphics capability or speed compared to
C++.

Hi

To use a .net based your going to use the manaaged
version of DirectX 9.

I doubt major software will adopt managed dx9 to build
there games, they will standard C++ .

And if read the numerous book on game programming most of
the sample code in C++ not vb.

Regards
Jorge

At PyCon this year we're going to have a multi-day game programming clinic and challenge. This is a first-time event and an experiment to find those in the Python community who enjoy playing and creating games. Python has several powerful modules for the creation of games among which are PyGame and PyOpenGL. On Friday evening, Phil Hassey will give an introduction to his game Galcon, an awesome high-paced multi-player galactic...

Hi, I would like to learn C++ and become a gaming programmer. Your suggestions to the following are appreciated. Q1) What development software do you suggest (compiler, code editor, ide, etc)? Free versions as well as priced, thanks. Q2) Regarding OS, does anyone recommend Linux over Windows (XP, Vista, 7)? What OS do you recommend? Q3) Is there a "learning gaming programming" site or book recommendation? I've seen the suggested...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
