System.ServiceP rocess - Is the service "hung"?

I am using the System.ServiceP rocess methods to look at the status of several
services. It will tell me if it is Stopped, Started, etc. But how do I tell
if a service is Not Responding, or Hung?

TIA...

Scott,
But how do I tell
if a service is Not Responding, or Hung? You cannot per se.

What I do is have Performance Counters that I monitor, if the counters are
moving when they are not suppose to or not moving when they are suppose to,
then the service is more then likely hung...

I also have EventLog messages that indicate progress...

Both PerformanceCoun ter & EventLog are located in the System.Diagnost ics
namespace.

The added advantage of adding PerformanceCoun ters is you can monitor how
well or poorly your app is running...

Hope this helps
Jay

Please excuse the cross-post - I'm pretty sure I've had interest in the article on all the groups this is posted to. A few months ago I posted a question about using a file on my hard drive to perform cross-frame scripting and pull data from a server on my company's intranet. I eventually got this working using an HTA file and Internet Explorer. Now I'm tackling a similar issue, but really need to keep the IE menus, navigation buttons, etc. this time...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
