Visual Studio provides an icon editor but I can't figure out how to create a transparent icon. My app always shows the full 32x32 square, with a wide background instead of a transparent one. How do I get it to look transparent?

Hello, I wanted to get some light in the subject. As I develop ASP.NET applications, it's necessary to understand how exactly the server- communication happens. It seems like initially application is "sleeping", and it is not loaded in the memory. Then, after very first request to the app, it is compiled (aspx files), loaded into memory, and executed. Then, a separate thread is issued to serve my page request, and it takes care for me...

Hi there, I'm trying to read an animated gif from a url (for a banner-rotator). The code I have now, does read the gif (or jpg), but the result is that I only get the first frame of the animated gif, AND at a much lower quality :-( Important to note is that the image is read from a url (from a different server), and thus NOT from the local disk. Below is the code I use:

I have an animated GIF file taht I want to display during a connection to our device. Also, I want to make the back ground color of the GIF, transparent. When I tried adding a control for a video clip(.avi), the parent form became distorted and jumbled. Is there an easy way to add a GIF that is animated, and make one of the colors transparent at the same time without affecting the rest of the form? Brian ABB Inc.

What would be a good way to check programmatically whether a service was running? We have a service that dies periodically and I need to check to see if this service is running. I know how to check to see if the status is in stopped or running mode. But that doesn't tell me if it is actually running. I need to know this so that if it happens I can programmatically start the same service on another machine.

Hello there, I have got a problem and several approaches but none is really staisfying: Lets assume we have a form. On its surface we have got several animations (like a blinking light). This form is not owner drawn. Everything is drawn by child controls. Now we want to go ahead and create an animation that is on top of everything of that form. Lets assume this animation was an arrow that is moving from the top left corner to the...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
