need help on indexing service-urgent

AVL
Hi

I'm working on indexing a website. I want to restict the search to only few
file types like .doc,.txt and.ppt
How to specify the file types in the 'ixsso.Query' object

Presently i'n using the following syntax:

dim ixQuery ' Index Server query object.
set ixQuery = Server.CreateOb ject("ixsso.Que ry")

ixQuery.Columns = "doctitle, vpath, size, characterizatio n, rank"
strQuery = " (#filename *.doc) AND " &_
"(NOT #vpath *\_vti*) AND (NOT #vpath *\cgi-bin*) AND " &_
" (NOT #vpath *\IISOrigBackup *) AND (NOT #vpath *\scripts*) AND " &_ "(NOT
#vpath *\_private*) AND " &_ "(" & target & ")"
ixQuery.SortBy = "rank[d], doctitle"
ixQuery.Query = strQuery

Can any one help me out? It's urgent

That seems to be VBScript code. For VBScript consider posting to one of

I have a .NET C# application that uses the indexing service. It adds folders to the catalog to be indexed, removes them, etc. Currently the application requires the user be an admin user in order to perform the indexing service functions. Is there a way around this to allow a non-admin user to manipulate the indexing service, i.e. include / remove folders to be indexed. Tks...

Is there a way to query Microsoft's index server service from an Access front-end? When you run the index service on a workstation (or a server), you can full-text index a directory/series of directories and you can query that via the quick-and-dirty query capability under My Computer/Manage/Services and Applications/Indexing Service/Query... Hello everyone, My name is Debi and I am an Administrative assistant with a large company in their sourcing department. I was hired one month ago, and walked in to a HUGE filing nightmare. My boss requires a paper copy of everything to be saved and filed. The vendors we purchase from produce hundreds of different products, with enough paper to sometimes fill half a filing cabinet on their own. Anyway, after discussing everything and...

By default mdb etc files are not searched by Indexing Service. The default can be changed in Windows XP Pro using Group Policy. I can find no suggested way to make the change in the Windows XO Home. I decided to try adding this Registry Key: "ExcludeExtensions"="" "SyncAtLogon"=dword:00000001 "SyncAtLogoff"=dword:00000001

Here's the rest of the tutorial I started earlier: Aside from text within a document, Indexing Service let you search on meta information stored in the files. For example, MusicArtist and MusicAlbum let you find MP3 and other music files based on the singer and album name; DocAuthor let you find Office documents created by a certain user; DocAppName let you find files of a particular program, and so on. Indexing Service uses plug-ins...

Does anyone know what might cause this repeated failure message for the Indexing Service?: _______________________________ The indexing service detected that its index of metadata associated with documents is corrupted. These documents will not be retrieved correctly during a search. To correct this, the indexing service will rebuild its indexes by scanning the required folders and processing all documents again. The documents...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
