Are there any problems with multiple user access to the same Access
database on a shared network drive? I have 'shared' chosen for
'default open mode'. As for the record locking properties, I selected
'edited record' for default record locking; also, 'Open databases
using record-level locking' is checked.
We seemed to experience difficulties in this office - just once so
far, I think - with more than one user accessing the database on a...

I am working on an issue where and ASP.NET web application on one computer
(A) needs to access files on a network mapped drive (B).
This application uses as DSN on (A) that maps a proprietory ODBC driver to
data on a (B). The DSN directory path points to mapped network drive
mounted on (A).
When the ASP.NET application reaches the point where the ODBC drive is
called to fill a DataSet it throws the following exeption:

I've been working with Microsoft support for over 3 weeks now on an
intermittent General Network Error we're seeing in our production
environment between our ASP.NET application and SQL Server 2000. They are
continuing to work on the issue, but it seems as if our progress is grinding
to a halt. I asked this question on the newsgroups before going to MS but
figured I'd give it another shot now that I have more information.
The problem...

We have an ASP.NET 2.0 web application running on a Windows 2003 domain
controller. Part of that application needs to read and write files from and
to a network share ( living on a MAC Xserveraid) on the same network segment.
I mapped a drive on the server to that share. When mapping the drive, I
could enter access credentials for the shares (an account from the Mac side
that does not exist in the windows domain). Using Windows Explorer,...

I split a database to a FE and BE but the issue is the network shares.
I have several groups that need to view this database but the network
paths to database are different for example.
Network drive F:\Projects\shared\database_be.mdb (original location)
Group 2
L:\Department Folder\Projects\shared\database_mdb

I work for a large organization were my team has developed 2 very
substantial databases in Access 2000. These databases have been working fine
for the last 6 years with minimal issues or problems. About 1 week ago today
we have started experiencing the error "Microsoft Visual Basic Run Time
Error 3043 Disk or Network Error" just about every day around the same time
each day (activity starts to increase at this time in the databases)....

I'm writing an .ashx page that needs to be able to write files to a
network share.
Example:
string fullPath = @"\\someserver\someshare\log.txt";
File.WriteAllText(fullPath,"test");
I seem to be running into that old Network Token issue from Classic
ASP. I had solved this in the past by writing a .COM component to
impersonate the same user as the requester but as a "real" token

An unusual spin to this recurring disk or network error in a Terminal
Server environment. Access 2000, Terminal Server 2000, file server is
windows 2000. All users have a separate copy of the front end db,
everyone accesses the back-end db via a network share. To preface,
non Terminal Server users (4 or 5 in office) never have this problem.
There are two Terminal Servers running win 2000, both basically
identical. This error affects...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
