I'm getting intermittent "Object Invalid or No Longer Set" errors in my
Access 2002 mdb.
What causes these errors?
Has anyone dealt with this before?
I can't trace it because it's not easy to duplicate -- it just show up...
I've heard that spurious queries that use Now() or Date() or some other date

Hi there,
I am trying to make a collection that will work in the "Object
collection editor" dialog. I have implimeneted ICollection, IList and
IEnumerable and now I have an "unnamed" collection, so the collection just
contains "objects". I would like it to contain my own objects "myItem" so
that I can edit the individual properties via the dialog but when I change
the types in the class from object to "myItem" it breaks the interface...

I am using VB.NET 2003 and SQL Server 2000.
My program inserts new rows in a SQL table based on data read from a file.
I generated the commands and the stored procedures with the DataAdapter
wizard.
The execution of the Insert Command throws the exception: "Object must
implement IConvertible. "
1. What object does it refer to? The Command itself?
2. On the other hand, in the VS Help file all IConvertible members have this
warning:...

Hi,
I'm trying to add an object to a checked listbox using VC++2005 Express.
I tries adding a managed String (String ^) and objects that implement their
own version of the ToString() method. I always get the same error message:
"object reference not set to an instance of an object". The objects are
initialized and I can see them and their content in the debugger -
everything's fine until I hit the myListBox->Items->Add(myString,false);...

Hey everyone!
I am (still) working on a project that I took over from former
students, so don't blame me for the criminal approach on coding *g*
The problem I have is fairly easy and while I have solutions, none of
them seems really "clean" to me and I was wondering if someone here
maybe had a better idea:
class geometry { ... }

I'm tryng to return a custom object that contains a collection of
MembershipUsers through a web service however I receive the following
error when trying to return the object through a web method:
You must implement a default accessor on
System.Web.Security.MembershipUserCollection because it inherits from
ICollection.
The error appears when trying to load the WebService.asmx file. The
code builds fine.

Ok guys, I'm really looking for someone to tell me how bad a hack this
is, and if I'm close to where I should be with it.
The basic situation is that I have a class which creates a basic
calendar control, the only difference is I stole the navigation scheme
from Vista (e.g., if you click on the year you zoom out to the months
list, then out to the decade, and back in when you click a year, then a
month).
I ran into some trouble...

Hi,
I've been using a GridView for some time but this is the first time I need
to delete a row in the grid whose primary key consists of 2 fields (table
columns). I have a table with primary key set to c1,c2 where c1 is a
uniqueidentifier and c2 is int.
The DataKeyNames in the gridview is defined as follows:
DataKeyNames="c1,c2".

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
