Hi guys, I haven't done that much research on this topic but it seems I can use either the single quotes or the double quotes. SInce I am so used to C(++) I prefer the double quotes and am wondering if they could possible be less efficient. Maybe I should get in the habit of using single quotes with Php instead ? I like my code to be consistent, so in two very similar circumstances I don't want one set of code using single quotes and...

Hi all, I'm looking for a way to scan a block of text and replace all the double quotes (") with single quotes ('). I'm using PHP to pull text out of a mySQL table and then feed the text into a javascript function called by onClick. The problem is that the text may contain single or double quotes, which screws up the javascript. I eliminated the single quote problem by running the text through addslashes, but the double quotes are a...

Hello everyone, First I'll address this as a textfile manipulation question and if there is no answer there, then I'll need to ask it as a vb ADO question. I have a text file that I'm reading into a dataset, then looping thru the dataset and storing the field values to vars and then doing an 'INSERT INTO' an SQL Server table.

Background Whenever code is used there must be a way to differentiate the actual code (which should be interpreted directly) with literal strings which should be interpreted as data. Numbers don't usually have this problem but Dates can too. Debug.Print Me.ControlName refers to a control on a form. Whereas, Debug.Print "Me.ControlName" simply prints the literal text Me.ControlName Where to Use Each Quote Type (' or ") In some places...

Hello all, I need to pass a string to a sql procedure in this fashion <DateParam> <BeginDate="2007-01-25" BeginTime="08:30 AM" EndTime="09:45AM"/> </DateParam> If you notice the date and time are enclosed in double quotes. How do I achieve this in C# I tried using the escape sequence "\"", but the \ also gets included and the stored procedure fails.

Hello: If I have a long string (such as a Python file). I search for a sub-string in that string and find it. Is there a way to determine if that found sub-string is inside single-quotes or double-quotes or not inside any quotes? If so how? Thanks in advance: Michael Yanowitz

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
