Hi,
Is there someone who has got som tips on how to convert text encoded with
character referense to unicode or uft-8 format using VB.net. Is there a
function or something that can help with the conversion?
To use a simple replace "this" with "that" is not an option since there are
som asian-texts that I need to convert as well. (chinese, thai and japanese;
the replace list would be to large to handle)
Best regards

Hi Cor,
thanks for the answer, but it doesn't look like it can handle character
referense (i.e. Ӓ ) or perhaps I missed something in the example?
Best regards
Daniel

How do I display character 151 (long hyphen) in XHTML (utf-8) ?
Is there another character that will substitute? The W3C validation parser,
http://validator.w3.org, tells me that this character and the ones around it are illegal
- then, after resubmission it flags no errors.
So, are there any illegal characters between 0 and 255 in the UTF-8 character set or is it
just my imagination that the W3C validation parser thinks there are -...

My Friends:
I am using std::ofstream (as well as ifstream), I hope that when i
wrote in some std::string(...) with locale, ofstream can convert to
UTF-8 encoding and save file to disk. So does ifstream.
Something I found shows that, I need to have a proper codecvt to set
it. I need more information, maybe a small piece of code sample. Thank
you!

Please give me some sample code if you could. Thanks a lot

Hello everyone,
Wide character and multi-byte character are two popular encoding schemes on
Windows. And wide character is using unicode encoding scheme. But each time I
feel confused when talking with another team -- codepage -- at the same time.
I am more confused when I saw sometimes we need codepage parameter for wide
character conversion, and sometimes we do not need for conversion. Here are
two examples,

Hi
This is going to be a question for anyone who is an expert in C# Text Encoding.
My situation is this: I have a Sybase database which is firing back ISO-8559 encoded strings. I am unable to get the db to translate to UTF-8 for non technical reasons.
So I have a string coming back with the character œ (ISO value 156). this character appears in .NET as a box character because 156 is not a valid Unicode character value.
I have been...

From python manual
str( )
Return a string containing a nicely printable representation of an
object. For strings, this returns the string itself. The difference
with repr(object) is that str(object) does not always attempt to
return a string that is acceptable to eval(); its goal is to return a
printable string. If no argument is given, returns the empty string,

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
