Control printer settings

I need to within code control some printer settings before raising the print dialog... I need to set some properties for the printer such as "The Printer to Print too", Page settings such as paper type (according to the list associated with the printer driver itself) and orientation... It would be nice to programmically control the printer, paper settings and orientation all together to avoid the print dialog and the potential for the user to change settings that must be fixed before the job is sent to the printer. I cannot rely upon the settings for the printer itself for it doesn't hold it's own settings unless the printer is set as default, problem with driver that the printer maker will not resolve. My users have to click 10 times picking the correct paper and such each time they want to print this document, which happens to be a label that prints to a label writer. Any help as to how to control these settings in code would be great..

Thanks

I am not sure if someone can help me, but please bare with me for a second... My problem is to retreive the Client's Printer Collection for a web application and then print to the client's default printer or a printer of his choosing. I know Asp.Net is basically server-side. So I was thinking of using an ActiveX Control which is downloaded on to the client's machine and then the ActiveX control Reads the client's printer settings and use the...

My program right now generates USPS style shipping label using System.Drawing.Graphics. It works fine except that the printer prints really slowly. I want to make my program take advantage of true type fonts. So I assume it's possible to send Font Type and the text to the printer, and the printer should digest and print faster. Still, barcode info needs to be sent as an image. When I print fifty copies of the same label it prints really...

If you're listening, I want the middle of the calendar (showing 1 month) to open below the cursor position. It currently opens just to the right and below the cursor position. I hunted through the code, but can't determine what to alter. Very nice piece of work, by the way. Thanks

Hi Everyone, I am using the API of a particular printer driver, to pre-specify settings specific to that printer driver. After which the API has methods to create a printer driver context, which is to be sent to print command of the document I want to print. In this case, it is the html file which I open in the browser control which I want to print using these settings. How do I send this printer driver context generated by this printer...

Hi. I've never created an ActiveX control before, so I know little about what it is capable of and what its limitations are. My problem is this: I have to create a way to send multiple documents from the web server to a printer on the user's network. The way it works today the user has to manually download each document and send it to his printer, but now they want me to create an automated process. Will I be able to download documents...

Hi everyone, Does anyone know how to fix the paper orientation depending on the paper size used when printing with the WebBrowser control please? What I've got is a HTML file, containing 1 big table of data, created by transforming an XML file using a XSLT file I created in InfoPath (didn't have time to learn XSLT!), the resulting HTML file is fine, except I had to fix the column sizes of the table in cm. Because of this, the table will...

I am doing my own PrintDialog, and have placed there a combo with the printer names, as in the PrintDialog provided by VB.NET. Here is the question: how do I open the native windows printer dialog for the current printer, so that my current PrintDocument.PrinterSettings will be set according to the User choices ? Thanks -Pamela

I want to call Page Setup to set default printer and page size and orientation before batch printing pdf's silently from WebBrowser controls. I can print silently using DDE (the NDde library) or Adobe Interapplication Communication (IAC) DotNet API. There is no Adobe DDE command or IAC API for Page Setup. I don't see a print silent method for the WebBrowser control. I can get a Page Setup dialog to appear by using the code below, but the...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies.
