I cannot find anywhere in vs.net that shows me how to set up a form as a
start up object in my project. I'm trying an exercise in the PrepLogic
Xml manual, which wants me to set my form.vb as a startup object and
then run my project.

Hello,
I have a program that intensively allocates and deletes lots
of relatively small objects, using "new" operator. The objects
themselves are composed of smaller objects, again allocated using "new".
From my tests I deduce that a considerable part of the computational
time is spent on the memory allocation, which makes the program
substantially slower compared to the equivalent code written using

I have them working now, courtesy of the link given in the prior thread--the
HVMenu over at Dynamic Drive myself.
http://www.dynamicdrive.com
I have them working as side-bar menus, not horizontal ones on TOP of the
page.
I figured it out and have it working fine, except for one thing--apparently
I need to insert the code for the menu for every last HTML file I have

I have an IFrame on my web pages that displays useful tips. I have a button
next to it that hides and shows it by triggering a Javascript call. I know
how to make the iframe invisible by changing it's "visibility" property, and
I know how to change it's size using the style "height" property.
The problem is, with both of those techniques the IFRAME still occupies the
same amount of real estate as before, even if it's now invisible /...

Hello, all, and TIA for any help you can offer. I've searched the
Internet for answers and have finally come here.
I've created a page (several, actually) with a link that opens a pop-up
window. It's a pop-up window in the sense that it's smaller than the
man page and is intended to be viewed and then closed.
The problem is that if I include a link on that pop-up window HTML
page, when the link is clicked the new page opens IN the...

I am trying to print some 2x6 labels on a SATO CL408e thermal label printer. The 2x6 labels are arranged in "landscape" mode with 2 labels per "sheet." When I attempt to print "x" copies of a 1 page label document, I get "x" formfeeds and "x" wasted labels.
Is there any way to manipulate the .NET printing engine to do a over-under 2-up landscape printing? I'm thinking no, but maybe there's a way. The printer has the ability to sense the...

Hi all. In my program I try to handle all obvious potential errors with
structured error handling (try-catch) block. What I would like to do is
have an 'overall' error handler that would gracefully catch any
unanticipated errors. I created a startup module to place my overall error
handling for my "real" program which is Form1. My program is structured
like this:
Module startup

Hi all:
I'm using a wx.ListView object with a multi-threaded wxPython app.
The list is dynamically generated and accessed across two or more
threads. In spite of the fact that I have checks to see if an item at
a given index is in the list and the entire set of logic is contained
within a try: except: block I periodically get pop-up windows stating
"Could not retrieve information for list control item X" when I try to
change or access...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
