perfectly apart from a small problem which I believe to more a of a user
issue (maybe some will set me straight on that one). I have set the 'Default
Record Locking' option to 'Edited Record' in the hope that if someone tries
to edit a record someone has open, they would not be able to do so.

I need some guidance on how to handle an issue. I have an .asp page
that correctly queries a table and returns data if a 'job number' and
week ending date exist and the user can update the information that is
there. What I need to do is, if a record does not exist the page
needs to create one and then refresh/requery so the user can edit the

We are using Access database in multi-user environment. In some instance when user is modifying the record, it's left in edit mode (shows pencil in the record seletor) which prevents other user to update different record. The default values in the "Option" (Update Retry Interval...) does not seems to work. How do I resove this issue? Any help will be greatly appriciated.

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
