Next "Available" record ?

me
I'm building a multi user app where many admins will be making calls to
people in one table. I want to keep things simple and find a way to prevent
2 or more admins from working on the same record at the same time. In other
words I need a way to go the next "available" record. Any help will be
greatly appreciated, please reply here in the NG. Thanks in advance !!

Not sure what you mean by "next available", but Access/Jet takes care of
multi-user clashes by using locking, Look at the Access help explanation
of "record locking". I recommend "edited record" for the best safety vs.
performance setting.

I see posts concerning the use of Whidbey, I am new to MSDN, and I would very much like to try it out. There is even a "hands on tutorial", but the requirement is that you have Whidbey installed (so it would go to reason that you can get it somehow). #2 - Can I read this newsgroup in something other than a browser... I would like to use a newsgroup reader, that I can setup to my tastes...

The third part of my attempted Correct C++ tutorial is now available, although for now only in Word format (use free Open Office if no Word), and also, it's not yet been extensively reviewed -- comments welcome! "Intro to loops" <url: http://home.no.net/dubjai/win32cpptut/w32cpptut_01_03.doc> As before I expect that here's mental food and technical points that we can strongly disagree about, for both newbie and the experienced.

Every time I open my project, I get a warning which says "There are updated custom wrappers available for the following referenced components: Office." When I double-click on the warning, I get a dialog box which says "One or more custom wrappers for COM components have been installed on your machine after you added references to those COM components. These wrappers may provide additional capabilities not offered by the auto-generated...

Hello everyone! I'm new here, so go easy on me ;-) I have a pretty good skillset with VBA for Excel, but now I'm venturing out into Access. So if the solution I'm looking for requires VBA (and I'm sure it will), a little extra TLC would be greatly appreciated. I have a table (AccessCodes) with three fields: AccessCode (PK), Available(Boolean), and ActivateDate. All AccessCode values are unique. I use this table as a lookup table for my...

Hi, I've got a form that allows a user to imput their flight data. I programmed a MsgBox into the save button that asks if the user wants to input another duty position for the flight. If no, the record saves and the formresets for the next rocord input. If yes, the record is saved and the duty position and mode of flight fields are set to null, with the remainder of the fields retaining the data already entered. The problem is that...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
