I want to create a UDP socket that receives broadcast messages only from
a specific network device (in case there are more than one network
devices).
When I bind the socket to INADDR_ANY I receive all messages, but when I
bind to a specific IP address, no broadcast messages are received at all
on IRIX or Linux. On Windows2K it works like I expected.
I still have to test it on a Unix machine with two network cards, but I
think binding...

I have a digital camera which I can plug into the USB connector on my
computer. There is corresponding software which came with the camera. I can
take a picture with the camera, the camera sends the picture to the computer,
and the software displays the picture on the screen (and saves it to the hard
drive). This would be used primarily in a studio environment for portraiture,
etc.
How can I inspect the exact stream of bytes which the...

Hello all!
I'm no programmer, but I have to try to complete some code for a
project that we are working on. There will be a web page that is set up
to register devices online. Part of the registration process will
require the user to select the type of device from a select box, and
then enter the MAC address for the device.
On the web page there will be two fields, a select box, and a text
field. The select box will have four choices:

Hi Gurus
I write a lot of procedures where I call on special functions. Lets say a
little function that runs SQL or that checks a specific value.
Now, if there is an error in these little functions, how can I find out
where the call is coming from?
For example, I have a form with two subforms. All three run a function that
calls one of these little ones. Now, how can I work out where the call is

I'm implementing a UDP server socket from the system.net.sockets.socket
class. (no, I don't want to use the udpclient class)
I'm polling the socket in a thread, testing the socket.available property on
each pass.
With datagrams, does socket.available only advertise when there are complete
packets in its buffers?
What i mean to say is that if socket.Available > 0 then there will be at
least 1 whole datagram ready to be read? So, if less...

I am retrofitting a central login application and want to be able to read
the Request.ServerVariables so that when they have logged
on, I can send them back to wherever they were trying to go..
If you try to load a legacy ASP app, I do this:
If Len(SessionID) <> 40 Then
Response.Redirect "/WAS/Default.aspx?AppCode=2400"
End If

Suppose:
There are two devices on my network that both broadcast UDP datagrams
(and they both use the same portnumber 1234).
I want to create two executables that use UdpClient internally. Each
executable should only receive the datagrams from one device. Is this
possible?
Lets say the devices are 10.0.0.1 and 10.0.0.2. I have already tried
something like this:
UdpClient udpClient = new UdpClient(1234);

I apologize in advance since this isn't strictly the most appropriate
group to ask this question in.
I am using a Socket to broadcast UDP datagrams as such:
FSocket.EnableBroadcast = true;
FSocket.SendTo(bytes, new IPEndPoint(IPAddress.Broadcast, 9991) );
I receive the datagram on the other computers on the network, but the
computer sending the datagram does not receive the packet. Is this

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
