I have .NET Frame projects that can be downloaded from the Web in setup.exe files. These files are less than a megabyte in size. They are demos for clients. If the user's computer doesn't have .NET Framework installed, he runs dotnetfx.exe. This is a 25-MByte file. Although it can be redistributed by a software producer, it is hardly practical for users to tie up my Web server to download a 25-MByte file along with 200 KByte...

Hello, My question is regarding writing installation "wrappers" for .Net projects. I am considering making demos for a software package and handing them out at a conference. Therefore, I won't have any idea whether the end user has the .Net framework, MDAC, or MSDE installed. I want to write an autoexec.exe application to put on the demo CD that will check for these components, and prompt you to install them if necessary, before running the...

Hello, I 'm not sure if this is the correct forum to post this question in but, I using MS' suggested method of using their setup.exe and settings.ini to deploy dotnetfx.exe with my deployment package. My question is, there are settings in the Config.ini file that I'd like to know how to change but can't find any info on. For instance, I would like to change the following line: IDS_SETUP_SUCCEEDED=Setup succeeded. to keep the setup...

I have a program written in VB.Net 2003 and have to make it work on a Client without the vs.net framework. I was wondering if there is a way in which I can include dotnetfx within my deployment package and have my installation package to execute the dotnetfx installation package prior to the installation of the main application. Is the above strategy possible, if so how do I have to go about it?

On reflection, you could possibly make the app a self extracting zip file which extracts the EXE and a settings file and then starts the app, then when you app closes, it can repack the settings file and itself into the exe. You would probably want a tool for this bit which could be in the zip too. So the app isnt single exe when running but when not running, it is. Just an idea for you to think about. Another option would possibly be to...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
