I have heard of security issues with IIS while on a T1 line or on a
cable modem, etc. I learned of a "break in" at a state office, and it
was traced to an "open door" while using IIS. Due to that break in,
research was done which resulted in the consensus that MSDE
applications were also vulnerable. Any thoughts one this? Does anyone
know if running if at home could cause an open door to exist through
which others might "make themselves at...

I've finally got MSDE 2000 sp3a to install on my PC by turning on the
"Server" service. Duh!
Unfortunately, I can't get it to connect to the server when I try to
upsize a tables in an mdb database file. The SQL Server Manager icon is
running and I am able to start the SQL server. I get a dialog box message
about unknown procedure or something like that. I am running a stand alone
PC with a DSL connection. I am trying to run the server...

Hi,
I'm an old developer, but didn't used SQL Server or MSDE to much before.
I have NetSDK instance of MSDE installed on my PC by Net Framework SDK.
All quickstart samples access it using trusted connection.
However, I want to access it using user / password, but I have no idea what
is default username / password to use.
Any help is appreciated.

Good day everyone;
I'm having a program for a PocketPC that was working great, this program
connects to a database (MSDE) but when I updated the MSDE to SP3a everything
blew-up... There is no way I can connect to my database anymore. The funny
part is that if I connect to a full MS-SQL Server the program works just
fine. Do I need to change anything in my connection string so I can connect
to MSDE SP3a? Any Ideas of how I can solve this...

I've recently downloaded MSDE and have tried to create a small app to test
the connection. It fails at the Connections Open() method with an error
indicating an invalid server version. I'm running on a standalone PC with
Windows XP and the .NET 2003 Standard edition.

Hi Guys,
We've lost the password for the sa. No other users belong to the admin
group. I've tried logging in using osql -E (windows authentication)
without success. Is there anyway to reset the sa password? The database
is MSDE and the version seems to be 7 (sql server 7 folder on pc). It
is running on Windows 2000 professional.Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
