I have code I run in both live and historical modes. When running in
historical mode the input stream is a set of stored event sequences that
have their own timestamps. When picking through the logfiles for a
particular run, I'd much prefer it if the timestamps in the logfile
generated with the logging package corresponded to the timestamps on the

I need to log how many times one spesific file is downloaded from my
website. First I thought this could be done simply by routing via a script
that count number of downloads, and then redirect to the spesific file. But
this soultion will not work when a user right click on the file/link and
choose "save target as...". How can I solute this?

When initially populating a database, it runs slower that I would have
supposed. Checking here and there, especially with iostat, reveals that
most of the time is spent writting the logfiles. In other words, I am not
compute limited, but I am not IO limited either (in terms of bytes/second
to the drives). The system is in IO-WAIT state most of the time, so I
assume the process is really seek limited.

I have a process that does inserts that runs 50% slower that Oracle and
Mssql.
Queries normally take 50% slower than normal.
DB2, Oracle, Mssql all are configured on same os, same disk array (raid
1/0 - 15k disks) but DB2 I/O seems to be significantly slower.
Tablespaces are SMS with automatic prefetch set.
My thought was to create the log buffer array as large as possible so I
