Send E-Mail TO SQL Server

I have a SQL Server 2000 application that send's e-mail to users using
the xp_smtp_sendmai l procedure. That works fine. What I would like
to do is RECIEVE e-mail with SQL Server.

Example: I text message an alert to a user. They reply with some
keyword in the subject of their reply e-mail, such as 'ACKNOWLEDGED'
or 'ACK' for short. SQL Server recieves this and then acts upon it
with a stored procedure, etc.

Anyone know if this is possible and with what tool?

TIA,

Lindsey

If you set up SQL Mail, you can use sp_processmail to handle incoming
emails. Although if you're using xp_smtp_sendmai l, then presumably SQL
Mail may not be an option for you.

Although I don't know of an existing tool, it should be relatively
easy to write a script which connects to a mailbox, parses the emails
and then connects to SQL Server to do something there. You can then
schedule it to run at a suitable interval (every 5 minutes or
whatever), or make it into a service.

Thank you for your response Simon. One question, though, would that be
a vb script that I would write?

Any language with support for handling emails and COM objects would work, so
you could use VBScript, Perl, Python, C# etc. I'd pick the language that you
are most comfortable with, and that you have other resources/skills for in
your organization.

Hi, I have what seems to be a simple problem. But I can not for the life of me find a way to send an integer over a socket. The send method will only accept strings. Here is what I am trying to do: testmessage = 'test message' msglen = len(testmessage) sock.send(msglen) sock.send(testmessage)

Hello everyone, I'm having some odd problems with a little program I wrote for sending/receiving bytes across the network. I am using synchronous sockets, and it seems that when I send byte after byte too fast, the packet gets lots somewhere (as odd as that sounds). Here's the sending code:

The combinations might be correct but it might be failing for some other reason. My Attempts:

Hi, I am writting a software that requires me to make sure the Num Lock is always on and Caps Lock is always off. First, I know how to detect if Num Lock or Caps Lock is on or off (if someone is interested, let me know and I will send you the codes). Once we know if the stat of Num Lock/ Caps Lock is not what we desired, we just send the Num Lock / Caps Lock key to change the stat. From most of

Right, I've got a 2 c# programs here. Lets call them A and B. My aim is to send a simple string from B to A. A is always running. I've overridden the WndProc method to give me messages that are sent to it. B is a program that loads, sends a message and then quits. Let me give you the code to B (bits are missed out, but I've got the important stuff there): private const uint WM_USER_SENDTEXT = 0x8001;

Process1 calls Socket.Send which sends to the same IP address and port, the receiver is running within Process1. If I move the receiver into Process2 then its fast. Please can someone explain.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
