Key Word Searching

Hello

I am developing a web application that uses full text searching quite
extensively. This is ideal where I am searching a large number of
large varchar fields for a set of key words.

My problem is that each user on the site has a number of keywords in
the database (approx 200000 users) and when I add a new item with the
large varchar field I need to match all users who's keywords are found
within the varchar text.

I have not yet created the keyword section in the database so could
use either a keyword table with a record for each keyword such as

UserID INT
KeyWord VARCHAR(30)

or a single varchar field for each user that has a list of keywords.

I can think of some horrible solutions to this problem but figure
there must be something better.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Chris Chandler

Hi there I've just been playing around with some python code and I've got a fun little optimization problem I could use some help with. Basically, the program needs to take in a random list of no more than 10 letters, and find all possible mutations that match a word in my dictionary (80k words). However a wildcard letter '?' is also an acceptable character which increases the worst case time significantly. So if the letters are check...

I need help with merging two Word documents into one through C# code. The problem isn't so much getting the documents put into one as it is maintaining the appropriate formatting, or rather reformating, after the merge. This is a full description of my needs. I have a C# class library that creates two Crystal Reports, and then exports them to the harddrive as Word documents. One's orientation is landscape, the other is portrait. I then...

Hi I have a string containing a phrase, and I want to search for a particular word and get its index. I've tried a couple of things already: InStr(phrase, word) - this doesn't work because it finds "subwords", eg. If I search for "colour" in a phrase containing "colourful", it'll still detect it.

Good Morning Everyone, I had a idea that I woulld like to pose to the forum. I have no idea if this is possbile but from what I could find searching it does not appear to be. I created a datebase of my writings with two forms, one for creating records and one for searching records. If I wanted to open Word to read one of my writings from the results of a query by double-clicking on the title, is that possible? In other words I want to...

C takes input character by character. I did not find any Standard Library function that can take a word as input. So I want to write one of my own to be used with "Self Referential Structures" of section 6.5 of K&R2. K&R2 has their own version of <getwordwhich, I think, is quite different from what I need: <getwordwill have following properties: 1.) If the word contains any number like "beauty1" or "win2e" it will

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
