I read a while back that MySQL will only use one index per query. (If this
is not so, please tell me and point me to a doc that gives a good
explanation of MySQL's current index usage policy). I'm using MySQL 4.2.x.
Here's my dilemma.
1) ---------
I have two tables that have records with a FULLTEXT index text field in each
of them. The problem is the relationship between the tables is a

Hi there.
I have defined a class called Item with several (about 30 I think)
different attributes (is that the right word in this context?). An
abbreviated example of the code for this is:
class Item(object):
def __init__(self, height, length, function):
params = locals()

I have been given an Access Database which contains a table that has
an OLE object field that contains a Word document. That table contains
hundreds of records. I would like to find out how I can write a VB
script, to be executed either within Access or executed at the CMD
prompt, which will loop through all the records and open the document
object and save it to a Word document that I can access from Windows
Explorer. An additional info...

Apologies for the newbie question. I have created a vb.net program for
my company that is designed to work with Word Templates (about forty of
them that we commonly use) that are selected by the user and populated
(with info from an Access database) at run-time, then saved as Word
documents. The program I have coded works fine -- it does what I need
it to do. But it has two problems: (1) it runs very slowly, and (2) it
does not seem to...

Hi.
I am somewhat new to this and would like some advice.
I want to search my xml file using "keyword" search and
return results based on "proximity matching" - in other words,
since the search string will often not produce a direct match,
the results will be based on proximity (50%, 20% 100%, etc).
are there any good examples out there on how to do keyword
searches on XML data? How should i set up my xml file so

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
