SQL Server equavelent Boolean values

16 New Member

I currently have a project where i have to redefine certain table fields and their data types.

The problem is i have fields to mimic or duplicate an access table, but the problem is that certain fields are boolean values with yes/no attributes. Sql server does not support boolean values to my understanding. The sql server corresponding fields are of type char which is updated in a webpage by entering y or n values. Is their a way i can manipulate the the database fields in my sql server database to make it boolean values and receive 1 and 0's? Would using a bit data type for the char fields be a good idea?

The two databased must match, because it is part of an automated process.
Im using SQL Server 2000. version 8

Please any advice.

Hello, I'm trying to use the FOR XML EXPLICIT clause with SQL Server to deserialize data from my database into a strongly-typed collection object that I will use throughout my application. I initially tested my design by building a collection in code and then serializing it to/from an XML file, which worked fine. However, I have hit a brick wall trying to restore the data from SQL Server. I originally had my collection and object

Why is the default text representation for booleans in C# 'True' and 'False' whereas in xml it is 'true' and 'false'? It seems like it would make sense to have them both the same. Metro T. Sauper, Jr. President Sauper Associates, Inc.

Hi, I have a web application which sometimes throws an “out of memory” exception. To get an idea what happens I traced some values using performance monitor and got the following values (for one day): \\FFDS24\ASP.NET Applications(_LM_W3SVC_1_Root_ATV2004)\Errors During Execution: 7 \\FFDS24\ASP.NET Apps v1.1.4322(_LM_W3SVC_1_Root_ATV2004)\Compilations

I have a function that simply returns TRUE if it can connect to a particular Sql Server 2005 express, or FALSE if it cannot. I am getting some strange error codes returned when the computer that sql server resides on is not reachable. The error is different depending on the connection string that I use. If I use the following connection string: "server=; Initial Catalog=master; uid=The_User; password=The_Password; Connect...

Currently our SQL Server 2000 database table field is using char to store as boolean, ie. "T" or "F". Now we change the field from char to bit field. I am not sure how it has impact on the C# code. For example, the stored procedure returns SELECT * FROM employee There is a field "ismale", "T" is male, "F" is female.

I am going through "Walkthrough: Editing and Inserting Data in Web Pages with the DetailsView Web Server Control" found at http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/sdba1d59.aspx I am using Access instead of SQL Server. Everything works fine until I get to the last step, where I try to insert a record. When I hit the New link it lets me add the new data, but then when I hit Insert, I get the yellow page which I have paseted below. I...

I am using a slightly outdated reference book on J2EE programming. It gives 2 methods of creating a database used in its casestudies. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
