Domain policy to disable XP firewall causes SQL client slowdown

I don't full have details yet but was hoping somebody has seen this before.
A domain group policy change was made to disable the Windows XP firewall.
This seems to have caused an SQL client app to login and run very slow.

Hullo - looking for a little advice here. I have a form on a page in one domain submitting to a cgi in another domain. Weirdly, on some Windows XP systems, a form on the page fails to submit/post properly to the cgi and users get the message from IE that it "Cannot find server: The page cannot be displayed The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to...

Hi all, We have standardized on Hyperion as our reporting tool. So far I have only set up a couple of Access databases as data sources for it. Now there is a request to report off our eOn (telephony management) SQL Server database using Hyperion. The eOn SQL Server box is in a workgroup that is not part of the rest of our domain. (We only have one domain because we don't have a "forest", whatever that means.) It is behind a router...

This began happening for our entire development staff after a security policy was pushed out that removed us from four specific rights, such as ""Replace a process level token". This was corrected and we updated...

-- previously posted on newsgroup :: <microsoft.public.access-- Has anyone else noticed this behavior? Focus jumping from current cell to upper left in embedded datasheet. If not, would you be willing to test your environment and report back? I posted this question back in May because a client using our application reported it. We could only reproduce it on our network if we modified the configuration. Now, however, it's happening...

Thus, If I have understand well, this group must be visible to ALL the pcs in the domain, isn't it ? BUT when I go to see the enterprise groups defined in ANOTHER pc within the same domain, it does not appear. Why ? refresh stuff ? I did not understand well ?

Hello all, Please forgive me if this is a simple question - I'm new. I'm using Javascript to create an XmlHttpRequest object to allow client pages to call PHP scripts on a server. IPs in the form www.myserver.com and work as expected but an alias in the form alias.myserver.com causes an http request made to the server to be denied with the error message "permission denied". I've tried passing the alias in the URL of the...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
