Simple SQL Server Question -- Is space within column name allowed?

19 New Member
Hi, guys.

I just wonder whether a space within column name is allowed in SQL Server 2000(i.e. "Item Number" as column name). In a stored procedure i saw:

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
 1.
 2. Create table #temp (ExpiryDate varchar(255), "Item Number"  varchar(255), "Description"  varchar(255), Brand  varchar(255), "Current Full Amt"  varchar(255))
 3.
 4.
And this stored procedure could run perfectly. However, when I want to modify this stored procedure, even though i just put a space at the beginning, SQL Server 2000 said "Incorrect Syntax near 'Item Number'". What happen? Is there any way to resolve it without removing space within column name?

Any help would be appreciated.

1. Column names with spaces are allowed but you have to refered to them as follows.
table_name.[column name]
2. Some servers don’t like [“] and you should use [‘] instead. It is due to server settings.

Re. <title>, my impression has been that a line break is _NOT_ allowed in the contained text. Is that true? Also, I gather a double quotation mark in the text string (and ampersand, etc.) _IS_ acceptable, but not char entities (such as &quote;), decimal characters (such as ‛) or style-sheet defined elements (such as <q>). Re. <meta name="description">, is a line break acceptable here? My impression is that for the enclosed descriptor...

Again: struggling to convert old-style HTML to html using css. I am trying to create a rectangular box divided into approx three vertical sections. The top section contains an image I would like on the extreme left of the box, the text centered in the reamaining space in that section. The center third contains two lines prompting for a user's login and password with a thirdline with some info (this section actually look OK now).

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
