I've ready many of the posts on this and other newsgroups in which
people describe working practices for source control of database
scripts. We are looking to implement something similar in my current
workplace.
We have agreed that developers should not modify objects such as views
or stored procedures directly, they should check the script out of VSS
first, modify it, run it, and then check it back in.
The problem we are having is...

I want to know the differences between SQL Server 2000 stored
procedures and oracle stored procedures? Do they have different
syntax? The concept should be the same that the stored procedures
execute in the database server with better performance?
Please advise good references for Oracle stored procedures also.
thanks!!

I have linked a large SQL Server table to Access, however 'only'
2,195,439 records are shown and are available to query. Can I increase
the size (cache??)/number of records showing in Access?
Thank you.

Hello Everyone,
Regarding stored procedures and views, I know that stored procedures
cause SQL Server to create a cached execution plan. Is the same thing
done for views? Also, how bad is the performance hit for a stored
procedure that use 1 or a few views as opposed to re-creating the same
select statement with the proper joins to the required tables?
I know that there are a bunch of variables that affect this stuff, I
just trying to...

Hi,
In SQL 2000 if I wanted to take a complete copy of another running sql
database all did was create a new database locally and right-click it
and select import and point to another database and click copy
everything (stored procedures as well) and it did it for. I can't seem
to find the same functionality in SQL 2005. You can copy tables and
views but not the whole database. Is there another way of doing this?
Our SQL database is...

I have a growning list of stored procedures that accept a single string
as a parameter.
The list and parameters are maintained in a table with two columns.
Some of the Stored procedures take hours to complete.
procedures and the page come right back and recording infomation about
the stored procedure (like a job number) that can later be used to
report what stored procedures are still running.

I can get the SQL Server 2005 CommandNotification cache dependency to
work with inline SQL. It works in a SqlDataSource as well as with the
page OutputCache when making ADO.NET calls.
Next I copy/paste the exact same inline SQL into a stored procedure
wrapper and switch my SqlDataSource or ADO.NET code to call the stored
procedure. Now the cache is no longer refreshed after data in the
query results has been changed.
Has anyone been...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
