LogReader Agent Lacks Required Privilege

I'm using our dev ID to set up peer-to-peer replication among three SQL
Server 2005 servers. The dev ID essentially has sa rights to the server
and databases. Per the BOL, I explicitly gave the login db_owner rights
to both the distributor and publication databases. Nevertheless, the
LogReader agent fails with the following error message:

Executed as user: mydom\sqldev. A required privilege is not held by the
client. The step failed.

The SQLAgentManger on each of the three boxes also runs with the sqldev
ID. Anybody have any idea what the "required privilege" is that the
LogReader agent is missing?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Randy

Hi guys, I have put together a flexible client-side user agent detector (written in js). I thought that some of you may find it useful. Code is here: http://fotios.cc/software/ua_detect.htm The detector requires javascript 1.0 to work. This translates to netscape 2.0 and IE 3.0 (although maybe IE 2.0 also works with it)

I would like to capture about 20 rows from the sysperfinfo table every 30 secs on a production server. I am thinking of ways I can reduce the disk (not network) I/O overhead of this process. Instead of reading the table from a local SQL Agent job and writing to a local table, I am wondering if I should create the job to capture the data from a remote (less critical) server. The servers are connecting via a gigabit line and are in the...

We have an ASP.NET (1.1) app running on a Windows 2003 server using IIS 6. Part of the application accesses printer resources on the server using a service application written in VB.NET and C++. When the service runs under the Local System account, there is no problem with printing, but when we change the Log On account to a domain administrator, we always get the following error: Error 1314: A required privilege is not held by the...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
