Hi all,
I have an application that uses Oracle's JDBC thin driver 9.0.x to
have a nice, friendly chat with 8.1.x database. During this exchange
the server rudely interrupts the conversation and causes the
application to fubar. The driver reports this as 'Connection reset'
(IOException) without any error numbers. The server is hosted by a 3rd
party in one of those "controlled" environments so my first guess is
network/tx timeout but...

Hi there,
I sincerely hope that someone out there can help. I have two
instances of the SQL 2000 Desktop Engine running. One is on my local
machine for development and the other is on another machine on our
network which is the production environment. I have built an Access
2003 front end application which connects to this database. This
works fine locally, as you would expect. I successfully installed the
database on the...

This method requires that your pages are PHP enabled and you have mySQL.
Although I suppose you could also use PHP sessions (not cookies as they're
client editable). You could actually use any server side scripting language
such as Perl or ASP and any database like MS SQL Server. I prefer PHP and
MySQL.

I know that DB2 LUW version 8 has "connection pooling" that provides a
connection concentrator (limits the number of simultaneous connections
that can occur). But does it really provide connection reuse in the
same manner provided by DB2 Connect or Websphere (or some 3rd party
connection interfaces)?
If DB2 V8 does have connection reuse, does the built-in DB2 connection
pooling require extra jdbc coding, and is it as robust as DB2...

I have to interface to a third-party application that receives HTTP
POSTs with XML content to a certain port on the server. The server is
*not* a web server, rather some custom server app written by the
third-party, so it's behavior is not predictable or necessarily HTTP
compliant. Therefore, I can't use the much simpler HttpWebRequest.
Also, if I repeatedly open new connections to it, the server gets
bogged down with authentication and...

I'm getting the following problem occasionally...the application will
work perfectly well for a period of time and then this pops up.
I have tried turning off the default proxy in the web.config which I
had seen on other posts but that did not solve the problem.
Any assistance or ideas would be appreciated
Thanks

Hello, anyone know if there's a way to prevent the ClickOnce"Verifying
Application Requirements" window from popping up on the client when an
application is launched via a browser? I have a small windows forms app
that is launched via hyperlink, and find this window kind of annoying.
thanks,
Chris.

We have been receiving a connection error at one of our sites, our
application works elsewhere. The error occurs when our application written
in vb.net 2.0 running as a Windows Service under the LocalSystem account
attempts to connect to our web service (also written in 2.0) running at a
remote site. The error text is:
Exception in the Socket#25517075::Connect - A connection attempt failed

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
