It's not mentioned in the current Books Online 2005, but it's still a beta
product, so you might want to post in microsoft.publi c.sqlserver.xml and/or
the beta newsgroups to see if someone can be more specific:

Jim Melton, standards architect at Oracle and editor of the SQL standard, discusses SQL/XML (technically part 14 of the new SQL:2003 standard). He also discusses data access APIs and the integration of XQuery into SQL. I am working to ease updating of a html page by transforming 2 xml files. I was going to use xslt for this and had bought 2 unopened books, wrox xslt and o'reilly's xslt cookbook. But am now wondering if I am better of learning XQuery instead? Any thought and opinions would be appreciated. Cheers - Tom. The Architect: "Hope, it is the quintessential human delusion,

Hi. I see it appears that xquery is case senstitive for looking for particular attribute values etc. Is there a standard way around this? Say I want to see all nodes with an attribute valued "copyright" or some such? Finally, is there a "like" function similar to sql? I perused the docs and did not see anything, but was wondering if I missed it, or if there is a way around it? Maybe I need to write a user function?

Dear comp.text.xml community, Microsoft recently announced that they are dropping XQuery from their next release of the .NET Framework, 2.0 (Whidbey). Since Microsoft ships .NET Framework only every 3 or so years, cutting XQuery from Whidbey means that the next opportunity for XQuery to find its way into .NET Framework won't be until around 2009, and even then it's far from a sure thing. That's why it's so important that the community...

Of the numerous XML standards, the classes of System.XML support only XPath, XML Schema and DTD. If I want to exploit XLink, XInclude or XQuery, can .NET offer me anything? Are there third-party libraries that are compatible with some/all of the mentioned standards? How is programmatic processing of XML data that utilzes some/all of the above typically done?

A future version of DB2 UDB will support a tighter integration of XQuery with SQL -- being able to embed XQuery in SQL statements, and vice-versa. Dr. Daniela Florescu of the W3C XML Query Working Group suggests an approach the industry should be taking with XML and XQuery processing: http://www.webservicessummit.com/People/DFlorescu.htm#DeclarativeXML Dana departs from the philosophy that XML is a technology for

XML in V9 DB2 is not stored as CLOB or BLOB internally, nor shredded and stored as relational tables. XML is stored as XML, rather as format...

Hi, I'm trying to execute a xquery statement and I get always errors. It seems that only the prolog section is giving me errors. If I want to declare a namespace the xquery processor is coming up with an "unexpected token" error. The same error appears if I just set the version. The xquery statement itself is working without prolog, but I get no results because of the missing namespace.

I am new to XML. Initially I was saving all the settings in either PHP or text files or database tables and use to parse the config variables from files or query from the database. Now I want to keep all the settings in the XML file and get the setting values, user datas (as database is not involved and all the results are stored in XML file itself) from it. Referring to http://www.w3schools.com/xquery/xquery_example.asp, it gives...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
