We connect via terminal services to an excel spreadsheet that has an
ODBC link to an access database using a pivot table, when we try to
refresh the data within the excel spreadsheet we receive the following
error "the microsoft jet database engine cannot find the input table or
query....."
this works ok if the user connects to terminal services as the
administrator however if they connect as any other issue it won't work
Anyone got any ideas?

Well, neither do I know Terminal Services, nor do I know Access. All I
can say is that a newsgroup for SQL Server is probably not the best place
to hope for an answer to your question.

Actually I'll hazard a guess.
Terminal Server isn't the issue.
ODBC is. Sounds like they setup the DSN on a per USER basis (i.e.
administrator) not a system DSN.

As others have noted, a TS list may be more helpful, but it is possible the
culprit is a combination of the two worlds (TS and ODBC). Since the setup
works for admins, I wonder if the DNS isn't setup as limited in scope to one
TS profile. If so, you can either re-configure the DNS to make it available
to all users, or create DNS's for other users. Just how this plays out would
also depend on whether or not domains are involved. But the general idea is
that, in some way or another, some privilege issue is denying access to the
DNS.

Hello All,
I have been working on this for almost a week now and I haven't anything up
my sleeves anymore that I could test in addition or change....
Since I am not sure, if this is a Windows 2003 Server or ADO or ODBC issue,
I am posting this on all of the three newsgroups.
That's the setup:
Windows 2003 Server with IIS and ASP.NET actiavted
Access 2002 mdb file (and yes, proper rights are set on TMP paths and path,

hi all,
I am trying to create a dts package to transfer data from tables in my
sql server 2000 database to a db2 UDB v8.1.4 database. When I use ibm
db2 oledb driver for the destination this works fine except that rows
are committed on a row by row basis thus performance is slow. I want
to use the odbc driver but when I define it as the destination, i get
errors saying that the maximum number of rows failed has exceeded the
minimum.

Dear group,
we are dealing with some very specific problems with ODBC, where a
connection from SQL-Server to Mysql works with ODBC-driver 3.51.10.00
and does NOT work with ODBC-driver 3.51.11.00. Maybe someone
experiences similar problems or even has a solution ? Some feedback (to
the group) would be highly appreciated.
We use a Microsoft SQL-Server as Headquarter database and some
Mysql-machines on Redhat as satellite-databases. We...

It's a naive question, but hopefully that's what the forums are for !
I have data in a SQL Server 2000 database, with an Access 97 front
end. This works fine, but at present the OBDC connection string relies
on a correctly-configured LOCAL DSN.
Is there any way that I can set up a generic DSN on the SQL server
server that all users can access, without the need to setup OBDC
conections on all individual client PC's ? With about 150 PC's...

I have an Access 2003 .mde sitting on an SQL Server. The tables for
the application also sit on the Server. I'm having a problem with
ODBC on only one of about 10 machines. All the other machines using my

configured the User DSN (under Control Panel, Administrative Tools)
tab to match what the other machines are set to, but this didn't work.
I keep getting an error message...

We've got an Excel spreadsheet that uses an ODBC link to an Access
database (running on our 2003 Terminal Server) the refresh data option
doesn't seem to work unless the user has administrative rights. we've
also tried this on our 2000 terminal server with the same results.
is there a particular way to install ODBC on terminal services?
is there any directories i should grant users access to so i can make
this more reliable?

Scenario is:
We have an intranet on which a Helpdesk application can be accessed.
Data input into the Helpdesk is stored in a Access 2000 database, held
on a server. This is great, works fine, Users and IT have a warm fuzzy
feeling of contentment.
Turns out Helpdesk application is short of decent reporting
capabilities.
So, I create an Access DB on my machine, via ODBC, link to the tables
within the Helpdesk Access database. I set the...

We recently deployed an upgraded application on all new hardware. The infrastructure performed exceptionally well as we monitored cpu & memory use. After 4 days my application team advised me they needed to roll back the odbc driver on the servers. The performance on the servers is now almost as bad as it was before the upgrade. The rollback process took maybe 5 minutes per server. Supposedly that's all they did to the servers. We went...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
