SQLDMO - Operating System Cannot Run %1

I have code that instantiates a sqlserver object and starts a job. I
have used this on numerous XP workstations successfully, when I tried
to move this to a Windows 2000 Application Server attached to a Small
Business Windows 2003 network and run the code, I am receiving the
error:

Automation Error. The Operating System Cannot Run %1.
(Error Number -2147024714)

The following is a code snippet:

*********
Dim app As New SQLDMO.Applicat ion
Dim oSQLServer As New SQLDMO.SQLServe r
Dim oJob As SQLDMO.Job

oSQLServer.Logi nTimeout = 30 ' ERROR OCCURS HERE
oSQLServer.Logi nSecure = True
**********

The code fails when setting the LoginTimout parameter. The SQLDMO.dll
has been registered successfully on the server.

Any ideas whey the behavior of this code is different on my application
server vs the client workstations on the network?

Thanks

Mike G

As an addendum:

I had a batch program that copied certain dlls to directories on my
local machine. All of the XP machines utilized the directory
c:\windows\Syst em32. The server however utilized the directory
c:\WINNT\System 32. Hence, my batch file was failing to copy over some
of the pertinent batch files ( I had hardcoded the path instead of
using system variables). In any event, this got me through the issue
of setting parameters on the SQLServer object. However, when I tried
to use the connect method (oSqlServerObje ct.Connect "<Server Name>",
"Login ID>","<Password >") I am now getting the error message
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Invalid attribute/option identifier.
Using intellisense, I am definitely sending the connect method the
proper parameters, and, as I mentioned before, it works on my XP
desktops. Any ideas? Thanks.

I ended up going back and installing MDAC 2.8 on the application
server. This must have resolved an issue with one of the dependent dll
files. My application works fine now.

I have an application that's giving an error during installation. "Error 1935. An error occured during the installation of assembly interop.sqldmo, version 8.0.0.0, PublicKeyToken........" I am not sure what the error is about. I don't know if the app is trying to install interop.sqldmo or it's not finding interop.sqldmo. Doesn't interop.sqldmo get installed with the .NET Framework? Any idea what the error means? John Dalberg

Hi all My requirement is to "on button_click, backup a SQL database using SQLDMO.Backup object and update the progress in a ProgressBar. The problem is the progress bar does not update at all until the very end of the backup process, when the backup is almost going to be over, the progress bar updates itself once on a stretch, which is no use,it is not showing any progress. SQLDMO documentation says, the SQLDMO.Backup object fires

Greetings! I'm converting a project written in VC6 to VS.NET 2003. When I built the solution that was generated automatically from VC6 workspace (.dsw), some errors occurred. "sqlole.h", "sqloledb.h", "sqldmo.h" and "sqldmoid.h" are included in the source code, but I cannot find them in VS.NET include files. I installed the latest version of Platform SDK in my machine, but its path is only added to VC6. Is there another version for...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
