Perhaps you database guru able to suggest what would be a good choice for
opensource database platform to use to develop projects.
At the moment the project is small/medium, but it will grow in size both
data, users, and number of transactions. I'm using MySQL for right now but
it lack of trigger, stored procedures, etc ... it sometimes slows the
project.
Is PostgreSQL any better/worse? Or is that any other choice beside the two?...

I want to make the data access component dll available to - say a business
layer which could reside on another machine.

in access i have two tables (tblplayer, tblpoints)
in tblplayer i have field totalpoint (number)
in tlbpoints i have field pointgame (number)
the two files are related via idplayer
now i made a query "qrybegan" and in that query i calculate
a field sumpointgame which is the sum of all the field pointgame (option sum

OR
2) Create separate data object/layer to access backend database and link to
the front end ?
ie.

I have got a MySQL 4.1 that we use wit vBulletin.... We had a crash
last week and I've been able to restore the data up to September 2005
as it stands.
Now, I'm under the impression I could rebuild the data from the logs
but I cannot seem to figure out how to do that based on the tools and
instructions posted.

On my machine in the office I change the computer setting to English (UK) so
the date format is dd/mm/yyyy instead of mm/dd/yyyy for US.
This problem happens in either Access or SQL Server.
In the database I have a table with Date/time column. The database is
located on a machine that is set to dd/mm/yyyy also.
When I enter date 7/1/08 (as in January 7, 2008), it stores it in the
database as 1/7/08 instead of 7/1/08. Why is it like that...
