I'm trying to do some debugging of python extensions on Windows2K. MS
Visual Studio (.NET) says it can't find the debug version of the
python libraries. (The message is "python.exe does not contain any
debugging information".) I installed the binaries from the Windows
installer. How should I get the debug libraries? Or is that even
what I need? I'm kind of new to Windows, and Visual Studio in
particular, so maybe I'm way off base.

I skimmed the tutorial and something alarmed me.
"Strings are a powerful data type in Prothon. Unlike many languages,
they can be of unlimited size (constrained only by memory size) and can
hold any arbitrary data, even binary data such as photos and movies. They
are of course also good for their traditional role of storing and
manipulating text."
This view of strings is about a decade out of date with modern
programmimg practice. From...

I've noticed when exporting from Microsoft Word XP into an HTML file
that Word uses a span style of mso-spacerun: yes. This has the effect
of making there be about 2 spaces between sentences.
So you will see a sentence and then the tag.<span style='mso-spacerun:
yes'> </span>Well, this next sentence will occur two spaces later
because there are two spaces in the span.
How to do this without using MS's style? Is there some way to...

Hi,
sorry for my ignorance, but after reading the Python tutorial on
python.org, I'm sort of, well surprised about the lack of OOP
capabilities in python. Honestly, I don't even see the point at all of
how OO actually works in Python.
For one, is there any good reason why I should ever inherit from a
class? ^^ There is no functionality to check if a subclass correctly
implements an inherited interface and polymorphism seems to be...

I'd like to know how to add break tags "<br>" inbetween entry's in
an input form, an example is if the word "yada yada" was entered you
would wind up with y<br>a<br>d<br>a<br> y<br>a<br>d<br>a
I would like to able to add the break tags with a button onClick. I have
no idea where to start, sorry. Any help is appreciated, Thanks Joe

Well, it doesn't quite rule them all, but it is fast: About three times
faster than using one function per state. Faster than using generators.
Faster than using code objects.
Some, possibly minor, problems:
1. The generated code is ugly.
2. The generated code can be quite large, depending on the shape of the
FSM (Maximum theoretical size left as an exercise for the reader ;-)
3. Not as fast as byte code hacks, or using pyrex/psyco....

The current CentOs Linux distro includes python 2.4.3. I need to
install a more recent version but I am worried about breaking CentOs
python dependencies. Is it safe to install python 2.6 using pup?

Hello all!
I have a variable name "thelist" which is a list of 100,000 elements. I was wondering how I can make two new lists of the average value and standard deviation from this. For example if my list is then the new list would be the average of the every 5 numbers, endeing up looking like =. I am very comfortable using numpy to get the average and standard deviation values. I am just having trouble breaking the initial list down. ...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
