However, before "some_prg" can use files, they have to be converted and it

I recently resolved an issue I had with passing a variable to a call

I am trying to use the Shell command to run the MSDE setup.
Shell("MSDE\setup.exe SAPWD=blah INSTANCENAME=TEST SECURITYMODE=SQL")
This works in that it runs the setup, but the setup always pauses with a few
seconds to go (as far as I can tell just before the MDAC install).
If I then stop my VB.Net app, then the setup continues. Why is this
happening and what can I do to resolve it?

Hi
I have my home directory on my departments server. Somehow I am not
able to write to a file using a php code,
$myFile = "trial3.txt";
$fh = fopen($myFile, "a+") or die("can't open file");
Instead of a+ if i use r or w or anything, it does not work. Could this
be a permission thing? The entire directory had a 777 permission and
even i after i created a file and chmod'ed 777 to it, the code couldnt
open it. What could be the matter?...

I'm running Python 2.5 under Windows. If I fire up IDLE and enter:
it works like a champ, opening the page in Firefox. Same thing goes
from a Windows cmd shell: it works as advertised.
But if I open a cygwin bash shell and try the same thing from a python

fork a sub shell for each command(eg: status,output =

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
