Hi,
I'm having trouble with the code below.
It's just a regular Tk text widget in which you can type and
select text as expected, however the call to tkFileDialog.askopenfilename()
seems to screw things up. After the file dialog, I can no longer use
the Text widget (typing, selecting, it doesn't work anymore!)
What am I doing wrong?
TIA,

hello.
i wrote a very simple tkinter demo program that uses menus, buttons,
labels, entries, frames and secondary toplevels.
it is a python version of a java program made by a colleague.
the user can create ("Scrivi") a record with his second name, first name
and date of birth, save ("Salva") the record to a file or read in
("Leggi") a previously created file. "Annulla" is to cancel. "Chiudi" is

I am looking for a way to force a Tkinter window into focus on a system
level. I know the force focus method should bring one window of my
application into focus, but it seems I need to have some part of my
application already in focus on a system level to make this work. If
for example I am entering text at the command line and call a
force_focus on my root window the call will not return till I click on
a window in my application. The...

Hello:
Below I have included a stripped down version of the GUI I am working on.
It contains 2 dialog boxes - one main and one settings. It has the following
problems, probably all related, that I am hoping someone knows what I am
doing wrong:
1) Pressing the Settings.. Button multiple times, brings up many instances
of the Settings Panel. I just want it to bring up one. Is there an easy
way to do that?

I've created a short test program that uses tkFileDialog.askdirectory
to help the user input a path into a tk entry widget. The problem I'm
having is that when I run the code as listed below, the getPath
function is called when the program initially runs, not when the button
is pressed.
from Tkinter import *
import tkFileDialog

Hi all,
I don't really understand how to properly use threading in my programs,
however I have managed to get by so far using them improperly. Once
again I have come up to what I think is something that won't work
because of the way the program is set up.
I have a long running process running underneath a gui in a different
thread, and a progress bar that updates the status of the operation.
What I would like to do is use something...

Hi everyone,
I am working on a module for my GUI that shows one image with an index value below and would use a scrollbar to control which of the images are displayed. The images are stored in a successive folder in the format Pic#, i,e. Pic1, Pic2 etc.
What I want to do is make a slider that is attached to a label which would output the slide number that is being looked at. I would use that number then to return the image of the slide...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
