I use a web hosting service that gives me FTP access to my directory on
a Linux server. I use Mac OS X. I write my code in Dreamweaver MX
which gives me color-coding, but I get really tired of having to upload
my code by FTP using Fetch every time I test it. Dreamweaver is
suposed to have a feature for automatically loading the files onto the
server each time you hit F12 for preview in browser, but I can't get it
to connect to my...

Ive been doing some investigation of python hashtables and the hash
function used in Python.
It turns out, that when running pystone.py, as much time is spent in
string_hash() as is spent in lookdict_string(). If you look at
python's hash function, shown below, you can get an idea why - a
multiply is used for every character in the string.
static long
string_hash1(register char *p, int size)

What are our options for a standalone (that is one that's not
client/server) easily accesible from Python?
I'm not going to ask for special features as this is only to see what is
avaiable and used (most used most probably meaning well maintained
project).
Thanks in advance

Hi all,
I have embedded python and want to execute python scripts from my
application. I need to call the execution of python repeatedly, and some
times same script again & again.
I am facing some problems , especially if i try to execute the same
script again.
Some times in loading my module. Even it looks like for loops are not
working, if i replace them with 'while' it worked.
This is on windows system with python 2.3.3 , I have...

Hi,
Is it true that that "Python 3000" is dead ?
Honestly I think that e.g. changing 5/2 to be 2.5 (instead of 2) would
just break to much code :-(
On the otherhand I'm using Python as "Matlab replacement" and would
generally like 5/2 ==2.5
So, I was contemplating to default all my modules/scripts to start with
"from __future__ import division"
but if it is never coming (in this decade, that is) then it would be a

What would the simplest way to make an application that has both a web
interface and runs from behind a web server but also can be used as a
standalone app with a gui? More precisely is it possible to avoid
creating an html/xml/whatever based web interface for the web version
and separately creating a gui (wxpython for example) for the
standalone version and instead create a graphical frontend at once
that can be used for both?

Hi Everyone,
I am looking for a way to allow a standalone python process to easily
interactive with a few web pages. It has to be able to easily receive
requests from the web and post data to the web.
I am thinking about implementing a standalone soap server, but I am
not sure which library is good.
Any suggestions?

After first trying to install the beta of Python 2.6 on my Windows XP
64-bit machine I finally succeeded installing 2.5.2. But I still have
a some problem: Installing iPython, PIL, easy_install etc fails saying
that python.exe cannot be found (although I can start the python
interpeter just fine). The problem is that python cannot be found in
the registry. I tried Effbot's solution of adding Python to the
registry, but that doesn't help:

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
