I'm building a class hierarchy that needs to keep as a class variable a
reference to a (non-member) function, so that different subclasses can
use different generator functions. But it seems Python is treating the
function as a member function because the reference to it is in class
scope....
Here's a simple case of what I'm trying (in the real code, fn is a
function that returns a database connection relevant to that subclass):

Just looking for suggestion on how to do this in my Web application.
The goal is to keep track of what a user has and hasn't read and present him or
her with new material
I am currently doing this by aggregating new content from all databases into a
single indexed database and then saving a timestamp in the account database
(for the current user) that tells me when the user last read items in the
aggregated database.

I'm writing some software that opens multiple instances of a single class in
new threads. I need a way of keeping track of all these class instances in
some kind of collection. I'm basicaly writing an MSN Messenger like
application. The threads being, in this case, the chat windows. I would like
to be able to access the various referances in a similar way to the
following if it can be done...
convoThreads.someFunctionInTheClass();

I'm testing the waters of n-tier development and I ran into a scenario that
I'm not sure what the best solution would be. I have a Company object which
contains a collection of contacts retrieved from a database.
In the presentation layer, the user will be able to add/delete/modify this
collection in which case it needs to be synced with the database.
The question is basically how best to do this? Aside from overriding the
add/remove...

I'm actually taking Microsoft's 2779 and just finished a lab where we
kept track of our changes to the database.
However, I'm not happy with the scripts interface because it does not
tell me the chronological order of my changes to the database.
Could someone share with me their technique for keeping track of
database changes?
I'm actually thinking a set of tables would be best, because sometimes

What is the simplest way to instantiate all classes that are
subclasses of a given class in a module?
More precisely I have a module m with some content:

pass
class x( A ):

Hi all,
I'm working on an application in which I already make some
preparations to be able to work in a frontend and backend database,
even if this isn't the issue a this moment. I'm using VBA classes for
this (I know not the easiest way, but I have made some considerations
and I want to to it this way as VBA classes are some new stuff to
explore for me).
In a class 'client' I get the data from the database and put it in

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
