Hi,
Is their a version of pythons IDLE that will run in a dos command
line?
The reason is that I would like to be able to run python code
interactively from my parable by connecting to my desktop using remote
command line or a telnet program. 2 2797

The Python interpreter should do fine. If your PATH environment variable is
set up correctly, just run "python", otherwise it's somewhere in your Python
installation directory.

If you don't want to miss IDLE's advantages, `IPython <http://

Pythoneers,
IDLE doesn't use the ps2 prompt ("..." in the command line interpreter)
because it supports multiline editing. This issue has been discussed
before, for example see Guido's explanation in this thread:

For the past couple of months, Idle won't start when I invoke it. I
am at a complete loss for why this is. When this happens, they python
command line still starts, and python works fine otherwise.
Most interesting to me is that a reboot won't fix the problem. But if
I just try it again sometime later it will work. Anyone have any
ideas? I'm running python 2.3 on windows 2000 professional.

I'm looking for other peoples' viewpoints about their experiences with
IDLE as an editor--what are its good points? What are its limitations?
Any advice/insight is appreciated.

This is sort of both Python and Vim related (which is why I've posted to
both newsgroups).
Python related:

I have been frustrated for quite some time with a lack of a history
command in IDLE (in fact with IDLE in general). Often I'll develop new
code at the command line, testing each line as I go. Currently I have to
copy and paste, removing outputs and the ">>>" at each line.
Is it perhaps possible to make...

If I want to write my code in a separate text editor (I like UltraEdit)
but then press a single button to have that code run in the IDLE
environment, is that possible? I know that you can configure UE to run
external tools, but I can't figure out how to run IDLE this way, because
when I check on its properties to find it's file path, it is just the
Python directory itself.
So not only do I not know where to find the actual file to run...

hey all,
For my study I'm writing a simple threaded webcrawler and I am trying
to do this in python. But somehow, using threads causes IDLE to crash
on Windows XP (with the latest python distribution 2.5.1). Even a
simple example such as this:

New to Python, and just had something strange happen.
I've been running my new code in IDLE running in windows. My IDLE
version shows as 1.2.1, Python version displaying in IDLE is 2.5.1.
I have been editing my code in UltraEdit then testing in IDLE by
choosing open, then F5. I didn't see an easy way to refresh in IDLE, so
each edit I've been closing the file (not IDLE itself), then opening
again. Since IDLE does not keep track of...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
