Kinterbasdb needs new maintainer

Sorry to interrupt the regular programming here .

As has been reported on some websites the
maintainer of kinterbasdb David Rushby has died
last month after a diving accident.

Kinterbasdb is the python wrapper around the Firebird
database api and an excellent opensource project.

The hope is , that this message will reach someone
in the opensource developer community , who is willing
to step up and continue the great work done by David .
Thank you

Hello all, We recently (about a week ago) sent a patch to the maintainer of xmlproc, but we didn't receive a reply yet. A look at the site reveals that the last update was somewhere in 2000. Does anybody know who the current maintainer is (if that changed), or what the status of xmlproc is? We kind of depend on it... The patch fixes a buffering problem if the XML contains utf-8 codes,

Hi, I've been using FB1.5 and access the database using Kinterbasdb + Python. My connection is established using kinterbasdb.connect() method and the parameters host, dns, database, user, password are all defaulted to 'None'. On my own machine running Mac OSX 10.3, I can connect using the following: host = 'localhost' database = '<my path to FB database>'

I am trying to insert "timestamp" to the Firebird database using standard library datetime module example given in the "KInterbasDB Usage Guide" http://tinyurl.com/mplo4 , section "Example Programs DATE/TIME/TIMESTAMP" Even timestamp has the correct format before inserting to the database (2006-26-2 17:25:34.940279 for example), milliseconds are not stored and the database returns (2006,26,2,17,25,34). I have made some Googling the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
