I have a need to become familiar with SQL Server 2000 for work.
Needless to say I am new to SQL Server any version, but not IT in
general. My employer has provided me with the SQL Server 2000
Personal disk from the SQL Server 2000 Enterprise kit as this is
reported here on the MSDN web site to be the version that is supported
on Windows XP. In fact so many of you kind people confess to having
succeeded in doing it.
I have tried...

Every once in a while (especially when I visit suspect web sites :),
every single window on my Microsoft Windows XP & Microsoft Windows 2000
operating systems goes haywire.
All the windows (every single one) shake, quiver, & shiver about.
For example, if I use Netscape to pull down a menu item, that pull-down
menu quivers and shakes and shivers. If I use Eudora to read email, not
only does the main Eudora window shake, shiver, and...

I have a new ASP project that I need to desperately test on my Windows 2000
machine before posing to my Hosting Company. I am having problems getting
the ASP pages to run from LocalHost. I will attempt to give as much
information of what I have done to try to correct this without success.
First my setup. Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 2 installed.
IIS is installed. I have turned off the firewall just in case that was a...

I have had an application in MSAccess 2k for about year now without issues
until recently. My users were using it in W98 without issue, but recently
moved
to WindowsXP and now are getting an error. It is with the standard image
control while loading a TIF image. Loading these TIFs in W98 works but not
in WindowsXP. Does anyone know what is happening here? How to get around
this?

The error is: Run-time error '2114'

Hi All,
I have an unmanaged C++ application that references a mixed mode image
DLL (mixed managed and unmanaged). Under .NET 1.1 we could trust the
dll (the mixed mode dll) by running the following command line:
caspol.exe -polchgprompt off -machine -addgroup 1 -url "file://<UNC
path to dll>\mixedMode.dll" FullTrust ame "GroupName" -polchgprompt on

Hello All,
We have around 3 windows services written in C#. We use them to process files
from a folder into database and further to process the data into various SQL
Tables.
All the services hang atleast once in a week stopping the entire process. The
files are queued up in the folders waiting to be processed. The services in
the Service Control Manager seems to be running but they do not process any
files. But when the processes are...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
