How to get a list of properties for an event object in wxPython?

1 New Member
Hi,

Sorry for asking a newbie question, but I am currently using wxPython 2.6, and I don't know how to get the properties of an event object in wxPython when handling events. Is there some sort of documentation that I can use?

for example:

def OnEvent(self, event):
#code here

I would like to see a list of all properties for that event. How would I do this? (I searched for quite a bit, but I can't seem to find good documentation on this subject).

Also, is there a way of determining whether the user pressed a specific direction button in a wx.SpinButton object by probing the properties of a wx.EVT_SPIN event? Thanks!

The documentation is in C++, available for download from the wxPython site. It's called "Docs and Demos". It's really quite good, after you get used to reading in C (I'm not a C++ programmer, but don't have any trouble these days).

Hi, I'm now trying to separate my wxPython GUI-building code into different files, and ran into a bump: In main.py, I add an event handler to a list: ---------------------- # -- add the event handler to list lstEvtHandler.append(self.OnNodeChanged) # -- call the function in the other py file

Hello, I am writing an application using two event-driven libraries: wxPython, and twisted. The first problem I encountered in the program is the confliction between the two all-consuming methods of the two libraries: app.MainLoop, and reactor.run. Additionally, the fact that wxPython was to receive requests from the twisted framework as well as the end user seemed to be simply asking for trouble. My initial solution was, naturally,...

I have a list box, I'd like to generate a right click menu for items in the list box. The problem is unless I left click the item first, I can't figure out which item in the list I clicked over. So it seems to me, I need to determine the which item I right clicked over, perform a setselected on the listbox object and then run my right-click menu. (I'd like a right-click to also serve as selection) The originating object is obvioiusly the...

Hi everyone. I just wanted to know if there was any way to use script to display a list of methods linked to a particular object? The object I have in mind is getBrowser(), and I can't seem to find any documentation online with regards to it's methods. Also, as I am learning, it would be nice to be able to know what methods are available for a particular object/function, without necessarily having to spend a while looking up an...

Cascading Combo/List Boxes This tutorial is to guide you in the creation of Cascading combo/list boxes. That is when you have multiple combo/list boxes where the selection of an option in one determines the available options in the other. TERMINOLOGY Row Source: The table/query from which the Combo Box or List Box gets its values. Note: There are other types of row sources that can be used but for simplicity we will stick with Tables...

I'm porting a Tkinter application to wxPython and had a question about wxPython's event loop. The Tkinter app provides a GUI to a command-line tool. It gathers user input, and opens an asynchronous pipe to the external tool via os.popen(). Then, it dumps the output from the external process into a text display. Although threads are often recommended for use with GUI apps, I am able to keep the GUI responsive with Tkinter's event loop,...

I have been perusing various blogs and MSDN pages discussing the use of event properties and the EventHandlerList class. I don't believe there's anything special about the EventHandlerList class in this context, in fact some articles from pre-2.0 suggest using any collection class of your choice. So my questions focus more on the syntax of event properties provided by the "event" keyword in C#. (Disclaimer - I am a C++ programmer working...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
